Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
When looking at 996's, Coupes have highest values, whereas Cabs and Targas, although more expensive when new, seem to be valued below the Coupe, so suspect same applies to 997s.
Leading evidence: 'same applies' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'same applies' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check on the sliding roof would seem mandatory, based' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Yeah, I don’t think they were trying to take advantage as they did point out it was low and recommended he not take their offer.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I posted in the Marketplace section, but it may be better here...
It's very hard to find info on the 997 Targa 4 as there don't seem to be any online. Can anyone tell me how much a 2006 Targa 4 is worth? It's a manual with full Porsche history and just over 100,000 ks.
Thanks in advance
Hey JLD,
A 997 Targa is such a low volume car - because they are rarely available there will be little comparable sales, so value will be hard to determine. Would be important to know Exterior & Interior colours & Options, as in my opinion these do affect price.
I would think like most 911's it will come down to condition & appearance, and how much you want it.
It's navy with grey interior, and the only blemish is a little rash on one rim... Other than the above, I don't know much else. I've seen it and it presents really well
10-15% less than equivalent coupe would be my guess?
When looking at 996's, Coupes have highest values, whereas Cabs and Targas, although more expensive when new, seem to be valued below the Coupe, so suspect same applies to 997s.
Always depends if you are buying or selling (sarc.)
😉
It's def a tough one. So the bottom of the market I have seen recently was a 2005 C2 Man coupe (80km?) - asking around $76k from memory.
(NB. Lowest price Manual of any 997 right atm is a 997C2S Man coupe (137km) $75k next one up is also 997C2S Man Coupe (94km) @ $99k. ).
There is just so very little for sale Manual 997 anything atm to compare, but the S coupes are not a fair value comparison. 100,000 kms definitely hurts the value, and Targa's are unusual which = less buyers. Personally not a fan of Blue on grey interior, but that's subjective.
Value imho $70-$75k.
I have no idea on the value (and after seeing the roof disassembled i'm afraid of one) but the hatchback is the best part, would love to load my groceries onto the parcel tray with the rear window up
As it is a Targa, the roof will influence value in Australia. But why ask us as none of us are involved in the car trade more broadly? If it was me considering such a purchase I would call one of my friends in the classic car sales business and discuss the car's value and future merits.
As others have said, the Australian market is different from, e.g., the UK market. There, Targas and Cabs are valued higher than coupes, but the reverse here. It's probably a weather thing. Mileage is a factor but the service history (inc IMS) is more important. 997.1 is less than 997.2 generally. Add the difficulty of getting Targa parts, then a lower value than a commensurate 997.1 coupe.
Car Sales prices really are no guide at present and there are some bargains out there now, if you ignore some of the prices being asked and make your best offer and be prepared to walk away. If you know dealer or trader - phone them and discuss it! My 'guess' is based on what I would pay and that would be between $60 and $68K, if everything about its condition, PPI and history stacked up, and I 'really' wanted a Targa. But that's just me.
I don’t know a dealer or a trader unfortunately. The reason I asked PFA is because there are none listed for sale, and I figured the best people to ask are those that buy Porsches. More likely to get a real answer than from someone trying to sell you a car!
If it were a popular model I would be able to work it out from some online research, but there is nothing available! So from your $69-68k guidance, can I assume it’s similar money to a cab as a ballpark?
I can’t understand why people think Targa parts are difficult to sauce, I am rescuing a 25year old 993 Targa I bought from Tasmania and every Targa part except for the blind is available either in Aus or Germany.
As for the 997 being a Targa I would say its price would be the same as a coupe being such a rare car.
Personally I like Targas but the Australian market is an odd one and quite different from several of the OS markets. JLD take a look at the 997 forum in the UK and see what they are saying and doing with the Targas. My value would be above the Cab value (to me). My estimate was for buying and allowing for unknowns.
Quite unusual to see them come up for sale. I think if you can buy it off market and it’s something you want, the value is based right now on availability so higher than a cab. Lots of good things about this model.
manual - the tip sucks
targa - golf clubs fit in the back
rare - always someone that plays golf will think it’s awesome
coupe - so close it doesn’t matter
pricing is based on two factors now for me. Are you buying it for yourself to keep for a while or are you buying it as some sort of flip in a few months or a year? If you are buying it for yourself, I reckon it’s likely worth more than a coupe as it offers some benefits and is hard to find. Coupes (manual) that sell (not sit like a stunned mullet for a year on Carsales) would be my first gauge. I think they seem to sell easily around $90-100k. If it’s excellent and maintained, anywhere within 10% is ok. If you are buying to keep or to flip, you should already have an idea what it’s worth to you and tell us. I’m sure then you will get some opinions.
I have a rough price the seller and I discussed, so I wanted to ascertain whether he would be ripping me off, I would be ripping him off, or if it was about right.. The trade in offer from Porsche was ridiculous btw, they’ve offered $50k but told him he should sell privately because it’s worth more. So at least they were honest!
They probably only offered him that as they might not want to deal with it. It's such an anomaly in the Porsche world that it'd be too far out of their realm of normality, so they'd have to get it cheap to move it on cheap and quick.
Yeah, I don’t think they were trying to take advantage as they did point out it was low and recommended he not take their offer. I told him to promise me he wouldn’t trade in the car!
Is it like the press kit car (blue with what i think looks like grey interior)?

This colour?
I used to own this 4S. Parts are easy enough to source (not that i did but i did research before buying). It's just a big sunroof.
Get some IPA, cotton buds and gummi pfledge to clean the tracks and any noises should clear up.
Hatch makes for a pretty practical car
Hi
@JLD
,
Seems you didn't buy the Targa after all.
I found where it did turn up though:

Now you know the retail value..!
