Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have another porsche that's low with wide rubber for canyon drives, so the 996 does not need to fulfill that use case.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Count me squarely in the minority, but I'm going to shelve my 18" wheels (currently 408's) for 17" wheels. Why? I'm going to start using my 996 as my daily driver and want the additional compliance/comfort a taller sidewall will give me. Some of the roads I regularly drive are in bad shape. I have another porsche that's low with wide rubber for canyon drives, so the 996 does not need to fulfill that use case. My question is on which 17's to pursue. I've been looking for 17" base twists (7 & 9 widths, et55) but there's a set of 993 Cup 2 wheels (also 17x 7/9 et55) available locally that's caught my eye. The weight difference between the base twists & Cup 2's is negligible. I've not been able to find any pics of a 996 on 993 Cup 2 wheels. Anyone out there riding on Cup 2's and able to share pictures?

POST 2Original post

I didn't find any in a casual search, but I like the look of those wheels and can't imagine them looking bad on a 996. I'd go for it.

POST 3Original post

Here you go! I think they look good. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1999-porsche-911-59/

Beautiful, much thanks - I scoured Google, but didn't think of looking at BaT. BaT listing is ideal with pics from several angles. It really does look good, and certainly did not negatively impact the selling price of that car.
