Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hello All. I am trying to locate an article that was written I believe in 2008 by KMAN-S about repairing the rear quarter window rattle on a 2006 Cayman S . I have searched through all the forums with no success. Was trying to locate the articles section and can not find it. Anyone have a link to either the article or the articles section? Have started having an issue and would like to fix it. Basically need steps to get to the window to tighten the screws/clips. Any help greatly appreciated

POST 2Original post

The files section was lost when P9 was re-hosted many years ago. I'm guessing at least 10yrs. There was an effort to recover many of them individually from some internet archive and but I think it was only a small percentage of the original. I don't recall if or where those files were kept. I do recall the article or a similar write-up on how to fix the loose quarter window. It seemed pretty simple in concept. There's a blind rivet behind the trim that works loose. Some erroneously though it was a bolt and tried the righty-tighty it. But that can snap off the rivet if too much torque is applied. I'm guessing something like loc-tite or even silicone caulk would work to dampen the movement. I never had that problem in my Cayman, maybe there's still someone still around who has dealt wth it. I found the part in the PET diagram for my 2010 Cayman - it is likely the same for gen 1. 999.190.445.37. #10 below.

I think this is what you were looking for. Pay attention to posts #18-20. I used an allen wrench to hold the rivet from turning while I tightened the nut. (6) B Pillar seatbelt bolt squeak | Planet-9 Porsche Forum

POST 4Original post

Thank you so much for the update. I haven't been on the forums regularly for quite some time (as can be seen by my missing the rehosting move). Anyway. this post gives me good information to tackle the job hopefully without breaking any clips.
