Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I had to remove the lower dash panel and in the process of doing so, I removed the silver trim piece just below the leftmost vent. I was able to pry the trim piece down to remove it but it appears the vent is in the way of reinstallation. Is there a trick to manipulating this piece into place beneath the vent? Does the vent need to be removed? If so, can anyone direct me to information on removing the vent? Thanks folks.

POST 2Original post

It shouldn't be pulled down during removal, it should be pull straight forward. And reinstall - push it straight in. Like magic the recess in it clear the vent. Took me a few minutes to realize that the first time I removed mine (I painted mine body color white..)

POST 3Original post

I couldn't push it straight in, because the vent was certainly in the way, but with a little manipulation I was ultimately able to get it back in situ. Thanks.

POST 4Original post

Upon arrival my driver’s side vent needed to be replaced under CPO. As such I learned how it’s secured. So just in case you don’t know, there are little metal tab slides just beyond the horizontal adjustable vent. L shaped, you pull the tab out, a micro flat blade screwdriver is perfect. I think there is one at 12 o’clock and one at 6 o’clock. Actuate those tabs and that whole vent pulls out as a cylinder, it’s easy to do and would give you maximum clearance.

POST 5Original post

I was able to roll my into place while holding the vent upward direction so that the panel clears it as it rolls into place. I could maybe send you a couple of images. You will not be able to push it into place by applying it horizontally, as you are experiencing I'm sure.
