Ive owned several Porsches but never encountered car with this status and am curious what the general opinion is from enthusiasts like yourselves on something like this.
Appreciate any feedback!

Imagine how a stolen Porsche has likely been driven, myself I would be wary. On the other hand it looks very nice, perhaps start with a request to see the overrev report and any maintenance history.
Thanks Boristhesypder, that was my first thought as well and did ask for a
DME
report but apparently they just took it in recently and dont have one. They did say they will give a full inspection and supply me with that. RS60 is near the top of my want list and I have a feeling even with the stolen status it could move quickly but at the same time I dont want to make a rushed decision I could regret. Im curious, even if the car is clean and seemingly unaffected by the theft, how does the stolen status impact value if/when it comes to resale value.
Is the fact it is a recovered stolen vehicle indicated on the title? I've never dealt with this situation.
Nothing on the title, it is clean, just mentioned in the CarFax. However as I suspected the car sold before I even had a chance to look at it. I guess stolen status doesnt drop the value as much as I had feared.
Sorry you missed out on it. Do you happen to know what number car out of 1960 it was? I didn't see that mentioned in the ad, but I'd like to add it to my database if I can.
Hmm, 18 year old car,
BMW
dealer, no overrev but a "full" inspection, 67,000 miles, previously stolen. Perhaps you have dodged a bullet.
I dont and the one picture that shows it was too grainy once zoomed in. Dont know if you can reference it from the VIN but that is WP0CB29808U731012
Thats the way I prefer to look at it. 😁 My search continues!
Giving a different perspective here.
I have owned way to many cars in my life. Sometimes these kinds of things really aren't as bad is it seems.
For instance, my wife's S7, I made a boo boo and light fender bender. However, because of the
headlights
, grill, and hood, and the dang... completely unnecessary and useless night vision camera, these few items factory from
Audi
because the insurance require factory new, car was totalled out. I found used parts, nothing wrong with the night vision camera, it was a $100 bracket that held the night vision camera that was broken, got the car back together at a reputable shop. Passed inspection, 2 years 10k miles, zero issues.
I had a friend with an M3, supposedly stolen, drove it for 60k miles with nothing more than normal M3 issues and maintenance.
I say all of this, because, just because it's reported, does not mean anything.
And more importantly, a real dealer like a Porsche,
BMW
, heck even a
Chevy
dealer isn't going to risk their brand, reputation and more importantly their agreements with the Manufactures, that's the big dollars for them.
The fact this car was with
BMW
direct dealership and not some random off the road dealer, I would not have hesitated if I was in the market and if this was the desire.
Yes, resale could be impacted. But for the right money, this could have been epic.
There is only 1900 of these out there. And that depending on how many truly still exist.
