Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
If that's the case then I would A) check the serial of the wheel to confirm and if so B) dance the won-the-lottery dance.

Part of the reason I wanted to get one close to home, drive out hand the seller a check, wait until the weather improves and drive it home.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ha! I didn’t forget, it’s still sitting in the seller’s garage! Part of the reason I wanted to get one close to home, drive out hand the seller a check, wait until the weather improves and drive it home. Only 60 miles or so from Chicago. Ride the metra and drive the Porsche 😎
I agree with you and the others, interior materials are quite nice, seems like the surfaces are better quality, at least compared to my 996.2 I sold in 2019. I was looking at 40th anniversary cars since early last summer and this one popped up on cargurus and I couldnt resist after talking with the seller and checking it out in person. Local find.
45k miles, new tires, basic maintenance performed November 22, gave the seller his asking price which was reasonable. BAT selling price average over last 6-8 months for the options and condition. Arctic silver metallic over graphite gray hardback sport seats, listed options with 993 hollow spokes 🤓
Ill get some pics up as soon as I can. Weather permitting Im driving it home on the 19th
The hollow spokes are option #408, so you probably have solids unless he literally went and bought 993 hollow spokes, but 993 wheels are 18x8 in front and not 18x7.5 which is what was on the 996s. The 993 hollow spokes go for 2x as much as the 996 hollow spokes. Mine was optioned with Hollow Spokes but the flipping dealer took them off prior to sale (legitimately). I bought on BAT, paid Bat fee + cross country shipping so I "over paid", but I reaaallly wanted an early build. It feels like a classic car inside. I'm slowing doing updates and so far so good on engine.
The guy the seller bought it from a few years ago, owned it for quite awhile, 10-12 years. The history of the car ownership was one of the selling points for me. Complete history records, original documents and garage kept.
So he bought 993 Hollow Spokes and put them on the car? If that's the case then I would A) check the serial of the wheel to confirm and if so B) dance the won-the-lottery dance. Do share your buying price so we can keep track of market on these special cars.
The guy I bought the car from didnt put the wheels on the car, the owner before him did. Probably at a time when they didnt cost the amount they sell for now would be my guess but who knows. I didnt pull the wheels off to look at the part # but I did feel the backside of the spokes and they are flat, not grooved.

Congrats!
I remember back in 2020 sending a email asking for a picture of the build sticker for the 99 that was just listed at a Porsche dealership.
No pictures had been posted but it was an Arctic Silver coupe with a manual transmission.
As soon as I saw 014 Sports Package and (408), I called and put down a deposit and arranged for a PPI.
At that time I didnt know anything about early builds so 2/98 had no significance.
Congrats on the purchase!
Your car looks almost identical to how mine looked when I bought it 6 years ago.
Over my six of ownership, I've gradually broken up the sea of gray and this how it looks now.
its a factory unit with Hi-Fi Classic Theater and some other labeled buttons, Im guessing like an automatic equalizer. Sounds good for its age.
I like the floor mats, Im going to break it up a bit with some black, start with floor mats and see what else I can find. Im going to keep the center console intact.
