This is not a probability of success.

I do not know the chap selling these, he sounds legit, and knows his way around the forum that can't be named here (he feels the same way about it..) and you should use due diligence if you are looking into doing something with this info.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I happened to stumble over something on Facebook.. a guy in South Carolina has two 2008 Boxsters. One is the special edition orange one (super cool IMHO), the other just a plain boxster. The orange one has water damage, up to the fusebox. It basically needs everything electrical replaced - but it has a clean title/carfax. It has 45,000 miles on it. The other one is a running donor car, it has a theft title, so it isn't worth a lot as a car, but for parts - it's outstanding. It runs, so the electrical stuff should be fine. This isn't a small project. IMHO it would require disassembly of the entire interior, and at least part of the engine compartment, perhaps including dropping the engine/trans - on both cars. Then the two trunks, and stuff under the car. And redo all the brakes/plumbing - AC - stuff like that. Might as well do the blend doors while the dash is out.. not a trivial job. I wouldn't underestimate the amount of time involved, this isn't a weekend project. BUT - in the end, if it was done right, you'd have a very collectable Boxster (BAT prices on the pumpkin have gone up into the low 40's..) and lots of parts, like another engine left to sell or stash away. The orange one: I lust after those wheels... The donor: Now - the part that's really appealing - both for $20,000. I do not know the chap selling these, he sounds legit, and knows his way around the forum that can't be named here (he feels the same way about it..) and you should use due diligence if you are looking into doing something with this info. He's in Summerville SC. His email is: [email removed] (so you don't have to suffer facebook..) Like I said, if I was 10 years younger.. Mention I sent'ya..

I’m tired thinking of the amount of work involved. That’s a full time job, over several years. Where did I put that pillow?

POST 3Original post

Both smart to think twice. I put two lower control arms on my Ford on my back. Holy Bilateral clavicle pain Batman! I’m sadly transitioning from fun hobby and saves money too over to “ just saves money”. Now each job needs physical measurement not whether my skill level is high enough for final approval. Nobody ever tells us old people when to spend money and if your parents were affected by the Great Depression the answer is always never. Time to reject the answer and save ALL skills left for my Porsche because I trust my own hands the most. PS Agree orange Boxster is cool.

Buy the one you want and then get a job at Home Depot for 1/2 of the hours you would have spent on the grafting project to pay for it (never mind the money you would spend).
