The most common size fitted appears to be 7mm front and 15mm rear.

The brand I have fitted are Design Tek, but I'm sure there are plenty of other equally as good makes.

I used FVD because they bundle the spacers with the properly sized lugs.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I read countless threads on wheel spacers and now I'm as confused as ever. Can someone simplify this for me and let me know what wheel spacers (like what brand and size) to get that will have no any issues (vibration, handling etc...) with 19" stock wheels?
My car is
Boxster S
2008 and planning to replace Micheal PSS for
Conti
Extreme Contact DSW 06 and do balance and alignment at the
Porsche
indy shop.
This will be for cosmetic reasons only so wheels are flush (or close to it), but won't do it if there are negatives.
Thanks in advance
The most common size fitted appears to be 7mm front and 15mm rear. That gives a good, full-arch look without any rubbing issues on stock sized tyres. The brand I have fitted are Design Tek, but I'm sure there are plenty of other equally as good makes. You will also need a longer lug bolt kit.
I have 7mm front and 14mm back from maxspeed motorsports. Very happy with them no issues to speak of. Like you said, mine were purchased for cosmetic reasons only so I would have removed them long ago if there were any negative repercussions like vibration.
Porsche Aluminum Wheel Spacers Packages with Bolts - Maxspeed-Motorsports
H&R make some good looking spacers. no issues with vibration.
Only using them on the rear as the fronts look pretty good already - have the same lobsters as yours and JasonMo.
Does make the rear end more sticky according to my friend. Completely reversible if you don't like it though.
I have 18mm & 23mm on 19"
Porsche
Design wheels.
I have Adaptec wheel spacers with appropriate length bolts that come with Adaptec.
No issues, no vibration just have your aligned after installation.

2008 CS. 7mm front 15mm rear on my 19" factory wheels. Spacer kit from GMP Performance. Extremely happy. High quality, hubcentric, anodized with all bolts and wheel locks. Excellent customer service. Here's the link:

Looks like I have 2-3 good choices. I'll talk to my indy shop tomorrow to see how much experience they have with installing spacers, because I will be doing tires, balance and alignment with them. It shouldn't be too hard to add spacers to all that.
Thanks you all.
Also consider that spacers will change your scrub radius, which means your car will handle differently with spacers than without spacers.
The engineers designed the suspension geometry by considering all the variables and the amount of offset was not a number chosen by random.
I dont want to start a new thread, but Im trying to understand the whole spacer and lug bolt length thing too. Its seems like every web site I go to measures the bolts in different ways.
I have a
2006 Cayman S
with lobsters.
I did find this 5mm/spacer kit:
https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/RENLS27567.htm?pn=REN-LS27-567&SVSVSI=0815&KeepHeader=N&fs=0&ByPassCat=Y&nb=Y
Can someone make this easy on me like Im a 5yr old and send me links to a solid spacer width for front and rear and the appropriate (BLACK ONLY) bolts that will properly fit the lobster+spacers? I know 5mm was a factory option on front and rear but is 5mm so small you'd hardly even notice? I dont want to pull the wheels out so far it looks like Im riding a Jeep, but sometime that properly fills out the wheel wells without spitting endless road rash would be good.
I just did spacers on my 2007. I used FVD because they bundle the spacers with the properly sized lugs. I am thrilled with them.
I did a quick search for you and this is what Gemini returned.....
The FVD Advantage: Complete Kits
The main reason
Porsche
owners choose FVD over standard H&R boxes is how they bundle their hardware:
The Correct Bolt Shoulders:
Factory Porsche wheel bolts feature a unique
two-piece floating ball seat (radius shoulder)
. Many generic aftermarket extended bolts are single-piece or use the wrong radius, which can mar your lobster claw wheels or cause them to back out.
Pre-bundled Convenience:
FVD explicitly packages the H&R hub-centric spacers with extended-length bolts that feature the precise, correct Porsche floating ball seat shoulders. This takes away the guesswork of measuring and sourcing bolts separately. [

Important Fitment Checklist for Your 987.1 Cayman S
Sold Individually vs. Pairs:
Pay close attention when ordering on FVD Brombacher's online store. Many of their part numbers are
sold individually (per wheel)
rather than by the pair or axle kit. Ensure you change the quantity to 2 per axle (or 4 if doing the whole car). [

Hub-Centric Flat Design:
Like all 5 mm spacers, FVD’s 5 mm option is a flat plate. It relies on your Cayman's factory hub lip protruding far enough through the 5 mm thickness to catch the center bore of your lobster claws. [

]
Prep the Hubs:
Before sliding the FVD spacers on, thoroughly clean the face of your brake rotors and the factory hub lip using a wire brush or Scotch-Brite pad. Since the spacer is flat, any crust or rust will cause a tiny imperfection in how the spacer mates, resulting in a steering wheel vibration at highway speeds.
If you like FVD's packaging approach, they are fully compatible, safe to run on track or street, and will sit perfectly flush against the back of your lobster claw wheels.
Thanks. These are the 7mm kits from H&R on their web site based on your info links:

Anyone run 7mms okay on all corners with no issues (rubbing, road rash, handling, tracking, etc)? Any better recommendations than this one?
I am no expert but i can't imagine that 2mm is gonna make a whole lot of difference. I have wheel gap for days on my 2007. Are you lowered? Looking back at your post....5mm is less than 1/4 inch.... I would barely notice that.
I have 15mm front and rear on my 07
boxster
with stock 18's. I wish I went 20mm for the rear to really flush it up. I got my spacers from partsgeek.com and they are hubcentric and great quality with new longer wheel stud bolts. Adding a spacer is no different than getting a wheel with a more aggressive offset. Most people don't gripe about that but usually do with a spacer.
I've had mine on for thousands of miles with no alignment and everything is still smooth as butter. Just give the wheel bolts a double check with the
torque wrench
every once in a while.
Wows 20s. Sounds like I have plenty of room. Have you experiencing any rubbing front or rear? Did you go with any spacers in front? Not sure if the wheel wells/fenders are the same for 987
Caymans
and Boxsters. One would imagine, but who knows.
OK thanks. Once I get my car back from the mechanic I'll take some clearance measurements for sanity and order a set. I do have
PASM
so I think Im -10mm from jump street.
