Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Reconnect cause' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Reconnect cause' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Don't know whether it can reset codes, it says that it can but I've never tried it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
I had cause to pull my steering wheel off recently and without thinking reconnected the battery while the airbag was disconnected. I now have the airbag fault light on the dash which will not clear. I have been on a few forums and understand that the light will have to be reset and will not clear itself. So my questions are,
1. Where is the OBD port, from other forums I believe it is supposed to be beneath the steering wheel. I can see the fuse box, I can see all the relays but I cant see the OBD port???
2. My car is a 99 Carrera Cab. Is there a diagnostic tool available to read and clear fault codes, from research I can only find them for 2001 models on.
Thanks for your help.
Steve
The port on my Boxster is on the passenger side under the dash, just near the glove compartment. It's on the underside of the dash, not the side wall. Might be different in your 996. I bought a cheap PIWIS tool from Ebay which runs off a laptop.

I was able to examine the ECU and error codes. Don't know whether it can reset codes, it says that it can but I've never tried it. Best to get the dealer to do it next service.
i had a similar issue, after replacing the drivers side window regulator the airbag light came up. took it to a Porsche Specialist (WeltMeister) took them 2 minutes. didnt even charge me anything. took it to Porsche Melbourne they wanted $250.
Hi all,
Thanks for the input. Found the diagnostic port, sticks out like you know what. Left side under the dash below the airbag. I have bought a program and input lead on Ebay. Lets see what happens!! I will let you all know.
Thanks Steve.
