Welcome to the new year everyone. I have a question: has anyone activated sport mode without
PCM
using
Piwis
? I have a used switchgear with a sport button. I activated the sport switch in the BCM. The function works in the BCM, but in the Tiptronic gearbox, there's no CAN information. Do I need to do anything additionally for
PIWIS
? Regards.

- It's nice to meet you.
Before anything, I'll strongly suggest that you flesh out your introduction you made in the New Members forum, which means more details about your P-car and photos. It's a very strong tradition here before asking tech questions like these.
This being said, although I'm reasonably facile with PIWIS 2 functionality, this wasn't something I've been able to figure out myself.
I personally thought about adding a console with a SPORT button, and trying to enable it via PIWIS, but I've never heard of anyone being able to make it work. However, I do believe it is available as an OEM upgrade -- so I'd be curious as to what the missing piece of the puzzle is. I'll be staying tuned here if anyone uncovers any solutions.
The missing piece of the puzzle is the enabling code that comes from
Porsche
Germany, via a dealers
PIWIS
. That costs money. Not insignificant money - real money.
I’ve done this at a dealer on my
987.2
. My VIN now shows my car as having Sport
Chrono even though it was not originally spec’d with it. Like
@deilenberger
said, it’s updated through Germany as it might be controlled for emissions reasons.
I have been looking into this myself to avoid getting the code from the dealer. The switch panel was easily retrofitted. I purchased a set of
PCM
activation codes from ebay thinking they would work, but my indy was unable to validate those codes with
piwis 2
and
piwis 3
. I am currently double checking the accuracy of the codes with the seller but don't have a lot of faith that the code is simply wrong.
I also found someone with a
ThinkTool Master
that was unable to program the
sport chrono
activation, we did find the command in the Vehicle Electrical System to enable it but the thinktool returned an error, something about unable to write encoded data, before we could actually enter the code. so at this point I believe the only way to get that code is through a dealer (which an indy can then use in the programming)
give these guys a go.. very good service and all works
