Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dear fellow Porsche fans Today I've noticed an clicking sound from the rear of my 997 c2s when the car is in motion. The sound doesn't seem to be related to the engine rev but rather related to the vehicle speed. Does any of you have similar issue in the past? Or have an idea what the cause might be? Cheers, Vinnie

POST 3Original post

or worse maybe a screw, i have had a few and they sound as you describe

POST 4Original post

CV joints maybe. They make a clicking sound when worn out. Try weaving from side to side. If the noise changes, gets louder or quieter it'll probably be CVs

POST 5Original post

I agree with Maxy probably a cv joint. Totally do-able yourself although I don't know what type of cv joint they are on your car, probably requires re-lubrication with grease. Mine only required re-packing with grease not a hard job if you have a bit of time and a little mechanical knowledge.
