Go to a race tyre site eg Toyo,Dunlop,Bridgestone and you will see what rims they recommend for tyre size or v/v and you can decide on brand to suit.I gather the rears are wider.

Hi, Need to get some track tyres for a set of 17 inch 996 rims. The standard tyres are: 205 50 17 The rims are 7 inches wide Will I be able to fit: 215 45 17 When I do the calculation the variance is approximately 2% which I can live with for track tyres. My question is whether they will physically fit on the rim safely given they will be thrown around the track.

Also check compound soft/hard. Eg Toyo Proxy 888 215/45/17 fit rim7"to 8" as does 225 but I would stick with 215 on a 7" rim Cheers,Mark.

it's usually 20mm width increase and 5mm profile decrease. i went from a 205 55 16 to a 225 50 16. with very close ratios.
