Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Have a metallic clicking noise at low speed from the rear back drivers side wheel of my 996 Turbo, this is what I have done so far. Replaced discs & pads and mounting hardware, replaced e brake shoes, checked wheel for cracks, checked for something in tires, checked to see if heat shield was in contact with hub. They car is lowered with H & R coilovers by 1 1/2", Any help will be much appreciated the noise is on the driver side, 1 click every rotation driving me nuts......

POST 2Original post

Could it be a CV joint? I just discovered that the stub axel has a hole all of the way through the center into the joint. I don't run caps on the wheels since its s track only car and I just had one side rust up and start clicking. I hose the wheels off after every event and I'm guessing I rinsed the grease out.

POST 3Original post

The exact thing happened to me with my previous car, a G35. I had a metallic clicking sound, once per revolution. I only heard it at low speeds. I took it to my tire shop for an inspection. When they removed the tire from the wheel, they found the inside valve stem nut loose in the tire. When rotating slow, it hit the metallic rim once per revolution. At high speeds, it was forced to the outside by centrifugal force.

POST 4Original post

I know it's a mundane thing... but did you check the center caps for "snugness"? Mine where a bit loose so I wrapped em (on the interface surface) with eletrical tape and pressed them back in with my hand. Now no rattle.
