Suggestion

If the hose connects using the usual Porsche slip-on connector, that can be rotated a bit, perhaps enough to move the hose away from the body contact point?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I just replaced the passenger-side radiator on my 2006 987.1 Boxster 2.7 5-speed after the original cracked at the upper hose neck. While installing the new one, I noticed the upper hose/center-radiator branch area is actually touching the body. Now I’m wondering if that contact and vibration is what caused the original radiator to crack. Has anyone run into this before? Is there any adjustment in the radiator mounting position to move it slightly away from the body? Are there rubber isolators, brackets, or mounting pieces that commonly get installed incorrectly or wear out? I really don’t want the new radiator cracking in the same spot.

POST 2Original post

Hey @professorman , that's a good catch noticing the upper hose neck on the new radiator is touching the body—I can see why you'd be worried about it cracking again. When you were pulling the old one out, did any of the mounting brackets or rubber isolators look particularly worn or compressed? Sharing a bit more about what you found might help the 987 experts here figure out if there's an adjustment you can make.

POST 3Original post

Any sign the car was ever involved in an accident? If the hose connects using the usual Porsche slip-on connector, that can be rotated a bit, perhaps enough to move the hose away from the body contact point?
