Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

C4S with a techart body kit (we think, the previous owner had it installed), Cargraphic exhaust, and carbon fiber wheels

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 4048038

Quote: Those are not real carbon fiber wheels. Just cf "look". Congrats on the new ride either way!

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 4048180

Quote: Actually they're multipiece wheels. The inside part that the tire surrounds, is metal, however the outer part where the spokes are is real carbon fiber.

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 4049655

Quote: Do you have pics of the backside and know brand of wheel?

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 4049954

Quote: Unfortunately no, they were also installed by the previous owner. We've tried to figure out who made them since one of them is slightly damaged (just cosmestically, caused by a tire blowout on the way back from a car event), and had no luck. If anybody knows, I would really appreciate it. I don't have pics of the back but I have seen it when we had the one off for the blowout. All we know is that they are at least several years old, and were told they cost quite a bit, somewhere between 10-14k (and the cost they said for the bodykit is pretty accurate so I am inclined to believe it)

POST 12Original post

Quotes source post: 4049988

Quote: I guess I should've clarified that when I said they were CF look, that I meant the entire wheel wasn't made from 100% CF. I'm pretty sure your wheels are carbon fiber wrapped but the core is still alloy. They didn't have full CF wheels several years ago and even today, real cf wheels do not come multi-piece. Why not just remove one of the wheels to inspect the backside for any markings or brand?

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 4050019

Quote: My fault, I misinterpreted you, I thought you were saying it wasn't real carbon fiber. You are correct, they are not all carbon fiber, just partly, I should have specified that originally. And when we had the wheels off we looked and didn't see any indication of the brand that made them on the back.

Dennis, nice new ride. Hope to catch you next Saturday at breakfast. After 9 months of sorting out and setting right a history of neglect and some pretty shade-tree work, plus doing some work addressing chronic 996 issues preemptively, my 996 C4S has a fresh tempory tag and ready for licensing. And while the 95 993 Cab is nice, it's no match for the C4S.

Purchased January '15, after >9 years driving a 'Dadcar'; had a 993 and 996 C4S before this one, and a 964 and 928 before that going back to 1992. Wrestled with C4S vs Turbo choice, before finally deciding that I prefer the silhouette of the C4S, and absence of the intercooler, etc. Might----MIGHT---add a supercharger in '16, along with revising the interior including seat reupholstery similar to the woven Singer look.

Here's my pics from a track event last year. PA's Official C4S! 65k miles 90% track car

POST 67Original post

Hey folks! Just picked up this 2004 C4S 6speed with 65k miles yesterday! I had a '99 c2 cab about 6-7 years ago, and was a bit apprehensive about going to an AWD 996, but after a long test drive I was sold! Other than brakes that squeal like a pig in the last 10 feet of low speed braking or so, the car is sublime! The shifter effort is also much higher than the c2 cab I had, but the throws are also way shorter and notchier - thinking the previous owner put in a short shifter kit. Photos:

Quote: That looks amazing! Generally don't like wings on these, but that wing looks perfect with the wheels and color! makes my wingless c4s look so plain in comparison. I too, am hoping to go 997 turbo next, but this C4S will do me just fine for the next couple years....
