I have replaced any wiring that appeared to have heat damage....and have checked many wires (not all) for continuity using signal tracer.
Leading evidence: 'Check many wires (not all)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'regulated voltage supplied by the ecu' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check continuity' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

sorry to wake up the dead , i'm fixing a turbo that had fire same codes same problem 1 to 1 , everything was replaced , the only wired part at the 5v from dme to the throttle im getting 9.3v

As the heat from the fire was mostly contained to a small area, I think its likely the MAF wiring or the throttle body wiring (I have replaces the throttle body as it did show some heat damage).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Help!!! 2003 911 C2
Fire after cam plug blows out.
I ordered the Bentley manual as suggested. I will check wiring schematics once I receive the book.
in the meantime, Id still like to get it running properly.
Back story, the car spun out on the track into the dirt. Then, started fire, fortunately the track guys were there and quickly put out the fire. We found out later with the help of Protec3, that the passenger side cam plug blew out and released enough oil on to the exhaust that it sparked a flame.
The damage wasnt that bad, melted air box and engine compartment fan, serpentine belt and a few wires with melted insulation.
I have done the necessary clean up and painting...it looks pretty much normal.
i replaced the following:
belt
airbox
exhaust fan
maf sensor
throttle body
and any wiring that look like it got too hot
the car now runs, but very rough...and only at about 500 rpms, with some surging...it does not recognize the throttle pedal.
it is showing the following codes
P1120 throttle plate
P1138 throttle position sensor 1
P1140 throttle potentiometer 2
P2135 throttle pedal potentiometer
P0223 Accelerator pedal potentiometer 2
and finally...the ABS failed light is on with the following code...4276 valve relay
Can anybody help? Id really like to get off the lift and back on the track.
how do I get the throttle working?

I have looked at the wiring diagram (not that I understand it), but still cant quite follow where the heck the wires go. I think they all go back to the EMC and I have confirmed this via the line tracer.
I am ready to give up and take the car in, but I really wanted to do this myself.....Is there ONE area related to the throttle faults that I should dive in on.? ECM, relays, fuses, wiring.
Does the MAF stop the car from throttle response? Could just one of the throttle body wires cause all these faults?
As mentioned before the car runs, but really rough and has NO throttle response. The fault codes can not be cleared? used both Durametric and Icarsoft Pro II

Most of those fault codes are specific. only three things are possible. (1) wiring problem (2) throttle body failure (3) DME failure
You MUST start with #1 ie test the wiring from the throttle body to DME, test for (1) continuity (2) short to ground (3) short to power
In order for you to do this you need (A) wiring diagram, (B) DVOM, and (C) the ability to use them and troubleshoot automotive electrical system.
Unfortunately I think you are in over your head as you seem to be trying to do this without the above. You have already thrown parts at it to no avail. It's time to get a real Technician/troubleshooter ahold of it. At this point all you will get is guesses , some real trouble shooting needs to done.
Have u checked continuity from the tb to the large engine bay plug?
Nobody is gonna know how to fix your problem. U r gonna have to do some good ol' fasion detective work on your harness. U may have also nuked some inputs on the dme. Chances r u have some melted wires somewhere.
Well, you are right about the lack of knowledge. That is what I was hoping to get help on.
I do have the wiring diagram via the Bentley 911 service manual, I do have the a fluke multl-meter and I even ordered a Power probe 4, which arrives tomorrow.
As I said. I changed the throttle body because it show heat damage on the controller.
I rebuilt the spoiler, replaced the exhaust fan, trunk wiring harness and repainted as needed
Would a bad DME be specific to throttle body issues., Could a grounded wire blow the DME? .
I have traced wires back to the DME, which is a giant PITA as I have a roll bar in the car, I will start tracing back to the big plug, but even that is hard to get to.
I do have an appointment (it was 2 weeks out) with a shop on Monday, but was hoping I could solve the problem on my own, it's not a money issue, its just the challenge of getting it right.
Thanks for you help.
If i had to guess its an issue with the harness that runs under the 12v lug and under the ac compressor. Its probable 1 or 2 wires that have either melted in half or to ground. If u r not proficient in electrical diagnostic u will either have to learn quick or pay that shop. Its not hard to do if u have the correct mindset. Experience really helps in this kind of situation too.
sorry to wake up the dead , i'm fixing a turbo that had fire same codes same problem 1 to 1 , everything was replaced , the only wired part at the 5v from dme to the throttle im getting 9.3v
but i hooked up diffrent dme i'm getting 5v , now i sent the dme to the ecu guys , they hooked it up to there 996tt and the car runs without codes
was this ever solved ???????
The 5v is likely a regulated voltage supplied by the ECU. If the ECU is working in another car, and not working in your car, then the evidence points to your throttle position sensor being toasted.
Or a short in the harness. If u unplug the sensor and test for the 5v is it correct? U need to test for the voltage by back pinning the plug on the dme with the sensor pluged in and unpluged. Then test at the sensor plug while its unpluged. This should tell us where the issue is.
I just went through this with an o2 ground wire. it had continueity back to the dme but was not producing a ground at the sensor. I had to solder in a bypass wire.
so today i found out the dme was burned that what i was thinking from the start but the ecu guys didnt even open it and told me its fine , tomorrow ill test the o2 sensor wire , someone local to me had the same problem eneded up o2
and i have same code for it , ill will let you know thanks !!!
good news car is running , dme was bad , only lights im getting is engine temp sensor and oil pressure on the cluster not working , i'm getting there !!!
