Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Not sure how one would adjust a elastic strap however.

I also learned that the Boxster uses a different stretch device.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The other day I noticed my coworkers 2006 Boxster S had the top coming slightly out of the track/channel along the top.
Yesterday I noticed my 2001 C4 doing the same.
Anyone else have this issue?
If you are refering to the side channels there are cables that run down each side of the top. Put the top in the service position (1/2 open) and check the cables. There is a ball and socket at the rear and crimp at the front.
Thanks. What do you think I should find wrong with these cables? I have also been told there is a cross wise cable that gets out of adjustment that I guess pulls the channels in word as it closes.
Check to make sure that they are connected at both ends. Pop the socket (cable) off of the ball (stud on car) and pull the slack out towards the rear to see if they are still connected at the front.
There are also "elastic" straps across the top that help guide it top into position. They are much harder to see/check.
I found out yesterday that the Porsche dealer can adjust everything back to spec for around $100.00. Not sure how one would adjust a elastic strap however.
As far as I can tell the top issue has gotten worse. This morning I put the top up and found scuff marks on the top drivers side. It is like the nap got pulled slightly.
I can only guess that the mechanism caught the top some how.
This is a pic of what I am whining about. I know it does not look like much damage but I have only owned the car for about a month and the top was perfect when I bought the car.
I am pretty sure is was not caused by the closing mechanism as it appears this area is exposed even when the top is down.
Maybe a animal ran across this area.
I sure would like to know so I could prevent it from happening again.
I do not have a cat but our culdasock has at least five now and a new neighbor moved in next door with another cat.
But when I am not driving it I have it in the garage accept for at work. It may have happened last week at work but if it did I did not notice it until yesterday.
I guess it could be something else.
Many very short years ago I had a 64 Plymouth convertible. The cat next door used to sleep on it and when he woke up he would stretch and hook his claws into it. If you chased him he would hook into it to get traction. Looked just like your pic. I finally reported it to animal control. Owners got fined for no license/rabies shot and letting it run loose Not sure what happened to it but it stopped sleeping on my top..

This is a pic of the spring clip that came loose and which I did not find lost inside the top. The repairperson had to loosen the inside portion of the top to reconnect it.
The spring clip when attached on both ends is right in the center of the cab roof and not an easy place to attach a cloth loop around one of those curled wire connectors.
My education cost me a little over $100.00.
No help with the pulls in the fabric though
I did learn it is a quality aftermarket top based on the fact that the rear window is sewn in and not glued in.
I also learned that the Boxster uses a different stretch device. On the Boxster it does not go all the way across. Instead it is a short stretch piece that attaches between two bars with one stretch piece on each side. They stretch in the sun and have to be retightened. There was a 06 or '10 Boxster in the lot with same out of channel issue.
