For those with halogen
headlights
, here's a treat for you. For those who haven't tried, the clearance in the headlight housing is so minimal around the OEM halogen bulbs, it is virtually impossible to upgrade to an
LED
bulb, much less to a high quality one with robust heat dissipation abilities. Through trial and error, I failed to find a bulb that fits... until now!
The Auxito H9 bulb (see link below) is modestly priced but it actually fits in the super confined space. It is very bright, has a slightly blue color bias but not too much. It makes seeing at night on rural roads less anxiety inducing.
Note that this bulb is NOT a high end bulb, like the Morimoto 2 Stroke, GTR Ultra, S-V.4, which i have used in other applications. Its got limitations, such as 1)
led
emitters are too wide to accurately create a defined beam pattern, 2) small cooling fan will likely be unable to keep up with long term heat generation (>15 min continuous I'm guessing). HOWEVER, high beam use is usually (i'm excluding long very rural drives with no traffic, say in the desert) intermittant where I am in the NE, where there is traffic around corners and over hills. So i'm always dimming the high beams often.
These bulbs BARELY fit in the housing, and it takes some patience to find the precise angle to get them in. Sorry i didn't take pics when doing it (was rushing due to my excitement!)

Yes, that's the same brand bulb I installed in mine. I also detailed the fit issue with some pictures in my post... wherever it is now.
Agreed with the brighness claims - mine were listed as "900x" brighter, but I don't buy it. Still, it was brighter. And I agree with the blue-ish color... a little too blue for my personal taste, but not bad. Certainly not 6500K as listed (my camera called it 5000K).
Glad to hear yours are working well, too. Mine continue to work as well, so it's not a cheap brand that fails way too soon... and I've installed
LED headlights
on the
Porsche
and our Jetta - works great in both places!
I replaced the H7 with a expensive Xenon kit. It worked great for a while but after 2 months it then just stopped working. Sent back to Headlight revolution who said they worked on their test bench... That was a year ago and I haven't had time to try them again... Not sure what the issue was .... Not making a good connection? Electrical compatibility? Might try them again...
These were the high-beam bulbs? I'm guessing so - since I've had 3 different
LED
elements in my '2009 halogen equipped low beam positions with no problem fitting them in (and one had a fairly substantial fan attached..) I thought about doing the high-beams, even ordered them - they sent me more low beam
LEDs
and I never bothered reordering..
Sorry for the slow response. Correct High Beam bulbs. There is very little additional clearance in the high beam portion of the headlight assembly. Almost no
LED
's fit. The above is the only one. Sadly the
LED
's that emit light are significantly wider than the tungsten filment in the halogen bulbs so the beam pattern is compromised and the bulbs just spray light everwhere. Again not a problem for high beams, but they would be more concentrated if the emitters were tigher to the "focus" of the hyperbola. If the mfgr upgrades the emitters i'll buy them and toss the current ones.
Regarding
LEDs
for the low beam H7's i tried some very high quality
LED
but didn't get the controlled beam pattern i wanted, so i switched to a Xenon system which worked great until they didn't. There is some problem which i havent had the time to solve (retailer said they tested them on a bench with a 12v source so they work...)
