Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I took the car to a Porsche Specialist to have it fixed (cause the main dealer is bloody expensive) how ever he didnt find anything wrong and also did the test so never changed.
Leading evidence: 'good idea' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'good idea' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Test so never' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Suggestion
Maybe the dealer tightened a clamp and sealed a leak?.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I took the car to a Porsche Specialist to have it fixed (cause the main dealer is bloody expensive) how ever he didnt find anything wrong and also did the test so never changed.
So Ive had this problem which I dont think Im just imagining.
But the last few months I feel like theres less of that hollow growl coming. Like before when a cold start and driving down my street with the windows down in first gear. And it just sounds so good, especially as its bouncing off the buildings (also got sport exhaust). But I dont have a lot of that anymore. I definitely feel like its less than it used to be. When the engine is running warm I dont really hear anything in first gear and maybe start to hear something in 2nd gear at 5-6k RPM
last week I had the car in for a major service at a Porsche main dealer.
they did find this:
Exhaust: Active fault code:18 - O2 sensor ahead of cat. conv. Cylinder (4-6)(no signal). Req further investigation
so they did the further investigation and found this:
The technician has carried out checks and found the O2 sensor ahead of catalytic converter (bank 2) intermittently inoperative. He has then carried out wiring checks but the wiring seems to be ok. We can confirm it is the sensor itself that is faulty so does need to be replaced to rectify.
I have no idea what the O2 sensor does. But anyway. I took the car to a Porsche Specialist to have it fixed (cause the main dealer is bloody expensive) how ever he didnt find anything wrong and also did the test so never changed.
but could that have anything at all to do with the fact that the car doesnt sound as much?
anybody else experienced something similar or am I just imagining things?
O2 sensors tell the dme (engine computer) how well its burning the fuel. The precat units r very important. The postcat units just tell the computer that the cats r working. They have nothing to do with sound. Maybe the dealer tightened a clamp and sealed a leak?.
It is common for a 20 yr/old o2 sensor to get "lazy" . Its probably a good idea to swap both precats next time its in for service
