Scenery looks breathtaking - we are hoping for decent weather, but fitted the wipers just in case !

Suggestion
There's a thread in itself- I don't think 95 will hurt (I was told the ECU will adapt True or False) I run 97 but would have no real bones about a tank or 2 of 95.

This road is a mini alpine run with a good pub at the end to enjoy a good meal before the return run, just have to get the smile off my face thinking back to it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Have fun!
Just an idea guys, and I know it's already into Feb but if we had 12 photos we could agree on or if 12 people were to join together then there are companies who can do a small run of calendars for us. http://www.photobox.co.uk/shop/calendars-and-diaries as an example have desk calendars for 10-15 sterling.
Some LOVELY looking cars here guys!!!! I'm relatively new to the site and have just seen this thread, so I thought I'd add a few piccies of my lil 2000 C4 tip in Opas Blue with the Aero kit inc the lil winglets behind the rear wheels lol!!! Adam
Hey Adam stunning car. I've not heard of Opus Blue though, are you sure it's not Midnight blue? The paint code can be found on VIL sticker under your bonnet and in your handbook.
Really excited to finally own our first Porsche - been an ambition for a very long time. It's great to be able to put a picture on here without feeling like you are bragging 'cos everyone else has one (and most are newer!!). Here is our first and hopefully not the last Porsche.
Hi guys, thought I'd post some pictures since I'm lurking around here... 1998 modell Carrera with Vesuvio Metallic paint and graphite grey interiour. My first 911 after owning a 944 and a 968.
Hi everyone, After many years of being spoilt with 4wd sports cars i have finally succumbed [
] A few things planned for the car over the winter - KW suspension, bucket seats & harnesses etc to get things nice & firm ready for the 2011 trackday season 2003 GT2 with 16000 miles on the clock & can;t wait to open her up properly, running just over 550 bhp Look forward to joining a few of you on some club trackdays in 2011 thanks John
Let's see if I get it right (bet it doesn't work!) John Followed instructions and tried to add foto from Photobucket site but still can't get it to work for me!!
It worked !!
Here are some photos of my immaculate Turbo... The bird's eye view.....
...from behind....
...full frontal....love the aggressive shark look....
...and one of my faves, the wide hips....
Indeed; apologies I wasn't trying to pass that off as my own work, it was taken during a magazine photoshoot by someone far better with a camera than me who has access to far better photography equipment than me...! [

Richard - Have tried to upload a picture as an attachment without success. Have re-sized the picture from 2.34Mb to well below 200Kb (now at 63Kb) but I keep getting the message that 'file is too large'. Clearly I am doing something wrong - any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Just joined so thought I would add a of pic's of my car, it's has suffered a bit of paintwork neglect, just trying to get the mechanicals sorted, paint work is next.
A couple of pictures from a little trip I have recently got back from, South West Wales to Skye and back. 1600 mile round trip, car rain like clockwork, never missed a beat, this was the firt time I had done a good long run in the car so I was a little concerned that something might cough and die along the road. The motorways up to Glasgow are just a pain in the rear, but once you get past Tarbet on the A82 things get a bit more interesting, though you do have to be very careful to miss on coming trucks that cut the corners along Loch Lomand. Pictures are from run from Kyle of Loch Alsh over the 'hill' to Applecross, one hell of a road to enjoy. Best to go out of season not so many people doing more looking than driving! This road is a mini alpine run with a good pub at the end to enjoy a good meal before the return run, just have to get the smile off my face thinking back to it.
Hi My first Porsche - an early present from my wife! Had it a few months now and really enjoy taking it out. The pic shows very tinted front windows but I've removed those now. Looking forward to next summer.
Bought the car just before Christmas - Love it Here are some pictures taken on our Holiday in Skye 1800miles covered only one problem - Number plate fell off in Kyle !!!!
Not a recent picture, but one taken on the day we collected the car from Northway back in October 2014. We have covered many highly enjoyable miles since then. She replaces the silver 3.2 Carrera that we owned for just over fifteen years.

I found I had to edit my post then click on the big screen with the tree in next to the paper clip on the right and the screen pops up to search your computer to select a picture then save it.
Hi guys am trying to upload pics of my 996 Paul explained what he did to post a pic but can't find his reply. Pics are on my iPad and when I try to upload it says that url can't load. Now me being a builder and not a computer trained expert the ipad might turn into a frizzbee
pieman7
Easiest way is to open a photo bucket account (its free). Then upload your photos. Once done open the photo in photo bucket and on the right there will be a number of options. Click on direct and it will say copied. Then use another tab to post here and when you click on photo paste the URL into the box
Just joined the club as I picked up my first Porsche just before Christmas - 996 C2 coupe 04 plate with 37k miles. Really enjoying driving it despite the wet weather!
Thanks Richard! It's slightly dirtier than in that picture now courtesy of this wet, miserable weather but I'm sure it will get prettified again once the sun comes out. I have to thank the two previous owners for looking after it so well and not using it much - I'm sure I will rectify the latter point!
Arty frost pattern on the back window this morning, thankfully I have a business meeting about an hour's drive away. Time to make the most of this crisp wintery day!
No, it just showed the link. However, now if you edit your post and select the icon 3rd from the right (pic of a tree and the sun) it will give you the option to upload a file from your computer as long as it's less than 1500kB.
In the sunshine in the Cotswolds this afternoon and then home for a clean. The M030 is warming to me after 2 months of ownership. Still makes the Boxster feel like a carpet ride!!
Spent part of yesterday fitting new wipers to my car in readiness for our trip round the North Coast 500 ( Northern Scotland) next week - it's a drive I have wanted to do since reading that edition of Evo last year when they did the ECOTY (Evo Car of the year) round the route. Scenery looks breathtaking - we are hoping for decent weather, but fitted the wipers just in case ! Has anyone first hand experience of the route ?
Chris
AS you can see from my picture Nothing like Scottish Highlands for a Porsche Holiday Is that the run up from Ballachulish to Fort William on the Great Glen?
The first picture is just before the bridge to Skye. The second is a place called Loch Morlich a few miles outside of Aviemore and at the foot of the Cairngorms.
Of course it is. Should have recognised it - been there so many times from Shropshire - Second home my picture is on the way back from the top of Skye on the right as you come down. back into Portree. The Scottish Mainland in the distance and the entrance to Loch Torridon
Have you tried the sea food bar at LOch Kishorne just before going over the amazing Road to Applecross
Fair comment about the hose! Trying to find a decent picture of my car when it's clean and without my grinning mug in it is difficult however!
350Z an excellent guess but wrong...
WOW its the only place to go Scottish Highlands only really begin once you cross the Great Glen WE are booked into a cottage by Neptune's Staircase at the end of the month WE usually base ourselves in Skye but decided to stay a bit nearer. Intend to do the 500 but will go via Loch Carron rather than start in Inverness where you miss some of the most spectacular scenery. From Corpath, Fort William we will head up towards Spean Bridge, turning left at Invergarry to Loch Garry (Incredible summit view), Loch Loyne and Loch Clunie towards Loch Dulch and the 5 Sisters. Must turn left at the beginning of LOch Dulch to a spectacular view of the Loch. Stop at Eilean Donan at Dornay for photos of the castle. Be nice to drop down to the Skye Bridge to turn round at the Roundabout for spectacular views on Loch Kyle - on a good day one of the best views in Scotland. Nice to able to take the back route towards Plockton as again more spectacular views of Skye Hit the Main West Highlands way A890 and Loch Carron more incredible views before catching up with the "500" at Strathcarron Stop at the LOch Kishorn Fish Bar (been going there since it opened 25 years ago)
Turn left to Applecross over an amazing mountain road - not for the faint hearted and along the Coast Road - more spectacular Views Join the main A896 and head towards Torridon and around Loch Torridon up to Loch Marie
Loch Garloch on the poirt side and then on to Loch Ewe and on to Ullapool where we have RUN OUT OF TIME Either stay over night or head back
Fort William has a Morrisons which is the best price and good fuel (Usually Shell) Reasonable Fuel on the bank of Loch Dulch and again in Skye
Applecross has a help yourself Petrol Station - expensive
and Ullapool had a Shell station
Not sure about further round but surely Thurso and John o Groats Back to Inverness
Fuel was a nightmare in the 996T. The gauge reads only 50L of fuel, leaving about 14L 'in reserve' once the light comes on (sort of). So you can imagine how quickly the gauge dropped lol! I really wish the long range 97L Carrera tank was viable in the Turbo.
Ullapool had Shell last year - the queue was funny as me, a GTR, 370z, two 350z and a Boxster queued most mornings for super
I think on one occasion i had to use some 95 RON - just plan the route carefully and make sure you set out with a full tank each day for max range.
There's a thread in itself- I don't think 95 will hurt (I was told the ECU will adapt True or False) I run 97 but would have no real bones about a tank or 2 of 95. I think if your on a track day or similar high speed romp then 97 all the way
There is 95 octane and 95 octane Sainsburys and Tesco is low 95v where as Morrisons is often Shell
But how do you tell There nearest Shell is Oswestry in Shropshire - defenatly runs better
Couple of mine from Tatton Park Classic Car Spectacular and the Oulton Park Gold Cup this summer both with Region 5...

Very nice indeed... and the driving roads look pretty good behind you in that last pic. Whereabouts is that?
Gave mine a bit of a clean up. Not too shabby really.
Hi all, first post on the forum and a pic of my car on a recent trip to the Loire Valley overlooking Chateau Montpoupon from a local restaurant. In the end 1200 miles of pure pleasure and really enjoying my first water cooled car having had a couple of 993's previously. On reflection, am I allowed to say that?

My Speed Yellow 996 C4S.... Ex Porsche GB Reading. Plus featured in EVO Magazine (Car of the Year Issue, 2002). Amazing spec too, includes GT3 Bucket Seats, PSE, Carbon Interior, Alcantara Headlining, Rear Seat Delete, Non Sunroof, 6Speed Manual.
We had a very nice run out to Holland recently. Where Porsche Club Holland really looked after us. I planned a route from Calais into Holland for lunch via the Western Scheldt Tunnel a 6km + tunnel before heading east and back into Belgium stopping over night in Antwerp Harbour area. Back into Holland for day 2 and a drive through the country away from the cities and traffic taking in windmills and lunching at the market in Gouda - where it rained very hard! - we brought souvenirs and Edam as gifts and made our way over to the coast. Holland has stunning coast line similar to Norfolk.. Miles of sand and clean beaches. Weather was good for the rest of the stay and the car was a pleasure to drive.

Here is my addition to the thread...Sadly for me but lucky for the next owner, I have listed the car for sale in the members section this afternoon. If you are looking for a Manual C4s, check out the ad and get in touch with me. 64k Miles, IMS, Clutch, Fly Wheel, LTT, Brake Lines, Coffin Arms... anything else you would like to know - give me a call!
Thank you, James
One thing I really liked about Sunday (and on my way to Sunday Scramble the other week) is the amount of people who say things like:
I love following your car, that back end is still amazing
I'll post my link of pics in the Rally thread

Thank you very much, it’s a testament to the previous owner
It’s a ‘99 C4 with factory Aerokit, M030 and Sports Classics (2’s?). I don’t think there are many options ticked for inside but the simplicity suits me perfectly. It’s tasty ‘underneath’ though, having spent some time at Hartec
Here's my Lovely 996 C4. Recent work done: front bumper off, cleaned out rads and added two new OEM horns. stripped out the CD changer and mobile phone bracket and replaced with flat trim panel in metropole blue. four new P Zero..bliss
Good morning fellow Porsche people. Thought I would post an update on my 996.1 C4 manual - 3.5 years into ownership & I get just as big a rush and smile every time I take it out as I did the day I purchased it. This is my first Porsche and has lived upto and way beyond my expectations.
The car had 67,000 miles on the clock when I took possession and now stands at 82,000. I drive it year round when conditions are dry as very much a 2nd / 3rd vehicle.
The colour is Orient red and gets lots of compliments / comments wherever it goes. Upgrades since I purchased - new clutch, IMS (nothing wrong with the one removed) & RMS seal. New rads & condensers. I have refreshed the entire suspension and now sitting on Bilstein B6/B8 combination on H&R springs (lowered approx 20mm) with 15/10mm wheel spacers. Suspension work was done by String Theory Garage (Stratford upon Avon), who I would highly recommend. I have also added an original GT3 front lip splitter - subtle but IMO compliments the narrow body perfectly.
The car is a non sunroof model and has sports hardback seat with a nice array of carbon trim (dash, gear lever, handbrake & turbo sports wheel) as the only internal options.
Here's mine, freshly spruced up as it's used as a near-daily driver in all weathers and conditions. Just gone through 70k miles (40k of which are mine in the last 6 years). Not bad for an 18 year old car!
I went to a cars n coffee meet when I was up North last weekend and despite there being a lot of new(er) Porsches there, I did get a comment regarding how pretty the narrow bodied 996 is.
@Printer93 - Spiegelei on IG correct? Think I follow you. How were String Theory for the suspension setup, was it a decent price as well? Don't they have a place at C&M as well?
Hi James,
Yes that is my Instagram page & thanks for the follow, it always astounds me the love for the 996 on that platform...
I had a great experience with Ben at String Theory Garage. He also owns and regularly tracks his 996 turbo. He used to be at the back of Caffeine & Machine but has moved in to larger premises in Stratford upon Avon. I found his pricing to be very reasonable (circa £2k) for my set up inclusive of parts & labour. Ben was also keen to understand what I wanted out of the car before recommending the work and costs. I understand Centre Gravity to be considered the best and they were very good when I spoke to them but they had a long lead time when I wanted work doing which is why I started speaking with Ben at String Theory.
Regards
Mark
Hi Mark,
Yes, it's good to see the 996 getting the love it deserves and there's a lot of good IG content out there pushing it! I'll look into String Theory as I've got a few little tweaks and fettles that I want to get done and suspension/ride is one of them (not that it's bad as it is) but I'm conscious that the car isn't getting any younger
Thanks,
JK
New member and picked up my first Porsche last month, a late 2002 996 Turbo in Arctic Silver with sports seats and a short shift manual box. It's on just over 54k with a great history and drives very well.
Excellent location! I grew up near there so whenever I'm back "oop north" I try and get out for some Peak District drives - some great roads around there.
Yes, the roads are fantastic in the Peaks. Had a little blast out with a couple of mates the other Saturday morning before there was too much traffic out. Surprised how mine held its own against newer, more powerful cars.
Took this Monday evening which turned out pretty well

Just purchased this immaculate 2002 C4S. 91k. The colour caught my attention...different! Boxster 987 in PX ripped of course [
] but this is a keeper.[attachment=b06a49c0-6832-4566...1_infinity (2).jpg]
Lovely colour...is it original? I'm toying with wrapping mine over the silver base...I did the same with my vans and looked stunning with the right artwork.
Yes, original. Havent had time to track the actual colour down yet but will post when i get round to looking it up. V5 says "Red" very helpful !
Thanks for feedback.
Cheers....
Hi Martin.
Congrats & welcome to the club & to 996 ownership, colour code should be on the under bonnet or handbook sticker, hard to tell from photos could be Orient Red codes 8A3 or 4 or Arena Red 84R or S.
Looks great, not a common colour especially on a C4s enjoy.
Kind Regards.
Andy.
Congratulations Martin. I believe it’s Orient Red - stunning. My first Porsche was Arena Red (much darker and more purple than yours) loved having a car in an unusual colour! Well done
Hi James,
Thanks, the colour was one of the reasons for choosing it. Had a few comments on the day re colour.
All the best, hope we meet sometime.
Cheers
Martin
