Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi all, Looking to hear from those who have installed the R wing DIY. The wing has a lip that goes over the edge of the rear deck lid. My car seems to have some seam sealer preventing the wing from sitting right. Have other experienced this? Is it a case of just removing the seam sealer?

POST 4Original post

Have you got the correct blanking plate that fits over the standard spoiler/wing?

POST 5Original post

Hi Moke. Yes I purchased a new one today, should arrive after the weekend 👍🏻

POST 6Original post

How many mounting holes? Looking at the pic is two of the mounting holes under those rubber hatch adjusters?

POST 7Original post

there are 4 mounting holes for the wing. They can’t be seen from the inside of the car, they’re behind the trim on the hatch.

POST 8Original post

I see… I’m sure that can be done with knife

POST 10Original post

Sorta related to the OP's post... I have a newish-to-me Cayman R that I bought several months ago. It came with an aftermarket wing and I'm looking to convert it back to the original Cayman R wing at some point. Does anyone know where to source the original wings? And are these really $3500? Here is a link I found to the what I believe is the correct part number: 2006-2012 Porsche Cayman Spoiler 987-512-992-01 | Gaudin Porsche Parts 2006-2012 Porsche Cayman part # 987-512-992-01 - Spoiler www.gaudinporscheparts.com

Hi, yeah these are really that expensive. I didn’t think you could get them new now. But it looks like that website has one. what do you have on your car now? There is also a filler piece That is needed that sits behind the wing. They’re also very expensive.

The car has an NR Auto GT3 wing on it: A BMW convert | new guy here - Cayman R on its way Hello Planet-9! After years of flirting with the brand, earlier this week I signed a purchase agreement on a 2012 Cayman R in Carrara White. Should have it in the next couple of weeks (it's half way across the country). I am beyond s-t-o-k-e-d to get this thing! I was cross shopping Lotus... www.planet-9.com I like the wing (it looks great in person) but want to be able to return it to stock down the road. I saw the filler piece too. Crazy pricing for what they are - these aren't super complex pieces to make. I found this company that's selling a carbon replica wing , but it attaches via adhesive tape (doesn't utilize the factory holes). It could be produced by the company that's selling a similar wing on eBay . For stuff like this I'm typically an OE guy, but for $4k+ in parts and before paint... meh.

POST 13Original post

I have the wing, and a brand new filler piece. Although I don’t have the factory hardware for the filler piece yet. im in two mins if I should fit it or not.

POST 14Original post

Is yours a Genuine Porsche wing? If so, would you mind taking photos of the mounting points of the wing so I know what I'm looking for in my search? I haven't been able to find any photos of factory wing's underside/mounting surface.

POST 16Original post

Got it. Thanks again for this. Currently on a rally with the car and it's the first time I've gotten to really drive the car. What an amazing car these are!
