This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hello, my 6-speed manual 987.2 indicates upshift when it is already in 6th gear. This problem started after I installed a K&N performance air filter, have you had a similar experience and what could be causing this?

POST 2Original post

I don’t see how the two could possibly be related. Have you done any coding?

POST 6Original post

?? Not "is it indicating upshift" - but HOW does it indicate this?

POST 7Original post

Its manual gearbox. There is a row on the dashboard which asks you to shift up.

POST 8Original post

I have PDK .. I can't recall a display on the 6 speed, but it sounds like there is one, at least where you're located.. (Georgia the country?)

POST 9Original post

I've had my Cayman w/MT for 16 yrs and I almost always am in at least 1 gear lower than optimal economy (I like to drive at slightly higher RPM), and I honestly forget about that upshift indicator until your post. Now it's probably going to bother me Nope Upon further review... I think maybe that indicator was on my old 2007 BMW Z4 . No wonder it doesn't bother me 🤪

POST 10Original post

Yup, my 2010 Boxster has the upshift triangle as well - I never pay attention to it, as it seems to want to bog the motor. I doubt the K&N had anything to do with this, but I would get rid of that anyway. It's not doing you any favors - it's well known to be bad at filtering air, and if you ever reoil it "incorrectly" it can damage the MAF. Not worth it. There are other foam/oil filters that work well, but K&N isn't one of them. The stock paper filter works very well, so it's not really necessary to change away from it. I'm guessing there may be a microswitch in the trans that is not seeing that you're in 6th, so it's suggesting an upshift? I wouldn't worry about it... just ignore it like the rest of us, haha!

POST 13Original post

I had one of those pesky things on an Audi Coupe years ago. Ignored it long enough the bulb burned out. Maybe you'll get lucky.
