They did mention he was due to talk again on the Sunday, but I was not there, so can neither confirm or deny that actually happened.

I've no immediate desire to go back but would recommend the event as its a professional set up and well managed offering a fair variety of stuff, even if you manage it only once.

It’s well worth a visit - here is a short piece i wrote about last years event when i displayed my 964 RS
https://www.racinggreencarstorage.co.uk/community/...
I went last year for the first time and yes, I did enjoy seeing cars that I'd never seen before and in a lovely setting.
This year I know a lot of people who aren't going due to the year £10 increase. It's not that they can't afford it, but more so the principal. I have friends with quite unique air cooled cars that have to pay full price to attend yet it's attendees that make up 90% of the show. Every time I go onto Instagram, I'm bombarded with ads for it. I think there's a few more with similar thoughts to the above.
I'm sure it will still be great.
I think it's like Vegas, you might go once to see what it's like but you probably wouldn't go again.
However, this year I think we will go again because there are a few cars that I've heard will be there and I want to see them, plus I also could do with a word with the chaps at Autofarm and it's always better to catch them in person rather than on the phone, so I'm hoping they'll be milling about.
If you haven't been then it's a nice day out, stay over locally and make a nice short break out of it, I think that's what we'll do, if you see a 930 with a Gemballa spoiler say hi

This is the problem with most events now - charged to basically have a car park looking at other attendees cars.

Went in 2019 (it's first year ?) and wouldn't go again, firstly due to the current ticket prices, but also the whole "watercooled car owners get different "privileges" to aircooled car owners" (fair enough, his show, his rules) not sure if the format is the same as it was 6 years ago, but if it is, it seems a bit churlish.
From what I could see, Rennsport Reunion doesn't do the same ?
We went last year and concluded if you didn't have an air cooled Porsche you weren't the target audience. It took us over an hour to get in (the queues went back to the A34) and the car park for non air-cooled cars was a field that hadn't been mowed for a while.
There were a few trade stalls and some food venues and a huge stage with one guy playing club music thumping out most of the day which seemed a bit odd considering most of the attendees appeared to be white men in their 50s-60s. Perhaps I'm stereo typing but all my friends who we met there had the same thoughts.
Having said that there were some fantastic cars on display and we enjoyed seeing those but at £90 for 2 to get in there are far better ways to spend your money.

In all fairness though us air-cooled owners are a cut above, so we wouldn't want to mix with riff-raff or drink working class blended Champagne or anything.
We have a special hospitality area, with free girls, drinks and caviar

Personally I wouldn't allow admittance to ANY car into ANY area if it were fitted with Gemballa accessories. But that's just me
If there's free girls, does that mean SWMBO won't be attending
The majority of the worlds caviar is now contaminated, if it doesn't poison you, I hope you choke on it when your other half decides to make a surprise appearance
Enjoy sitting in that queue all the way back up the A34, I hope your head studs fail, your wastegate sticks shut and your rocker cover gaskets leak oil all over your exhaust manifolds.
Bonne chance
Next year we can be best mates when you turn up in your 996 RS and slum it with the rest of us watercooled heathens
Prices are pitched higher than most to keep audience numbers down. At £40 a pop, it’s too expensive for me, as Porsche at the Lakes was a tenner and a Porsche in the a park (St Albans tomorrow) is £13.50 (with discount) and closer to me.

Why do they want less people there?
Or is it the type of people they want there? I don't want to say anything personally about a person behind their back, I never say anything that I wouldn't say to their face, but knowing some of the people involved I do actually think that they don't want people turning up in tracksuit bottoms in a £3k Boxster, so maybe they tried to price those people out of coming.
I went last year and loved it, lots of interesting / rare road and race cars, I’m not sure I understand the comments on costs either, it must be a huge logistic effort to get all of these cars in the same place.
Ticket for this year bought and put away somewhere safe, just got to remember where I put it!
Went last year and going again this year. Just love the eclectic mix of cars. Weather was lovely last year so hopefully the weather will be kind this time around.

They want less people so as not to trash the place and clog up the roads etc. I guess if you pitch the price at £40 a ticket, you’re definitely going to exclude people like me with a couple of old Porsches. I also heard that the exhibitors have to pay to be there as well, so it looks like the event gets the same money for less people.
I’ll be going to the Pistonhead event at Bicester instead. Half the cost and not just Porsches.
I don't agree that they want less people there, if that was the case then they just need to limit the number of tickets for sale but they're still available to buy today. And how do you ensure that only the "right people" attend unless it's by invitation only.
I think Frank has set out to create an event that mirrors his own interests and since he sold up, has the money to turn that dream into reality. The problem is like a lot of these things they become a victim of their own success and for some people that makes the event less appealing despite the rare and special cars that may be on display.
If he can sort out the logistics and event management then perhaps it might be worth another visit but then I'd probably also need to buy something air-cooled to really fit in, or perhaps we're not the target audience after all

Ticket price is a bit hexy if you have to factor in long distance travel. I got a 'free' ticket last year when someone had to cancel and the weather was great which added to the experience. If it forecast rain I wouldn't get out of bed and would either swallow the loss (if I'd bought it), give the ticket away saving the cost of fuel which would be near double the entry price.
I've seen it now, I know the brand and everything I'd want to see I've seen, so looking at cars offers nothing new for me. I fail to see what 'attractions' would attract me as you don't really get any advance notice as to what, if anything, will be the highlight of the show. If they said Walter Rohl for example was going to be there and do a talk then that's a big pull but looking at cars at a static event doesn't really float my boat anymore. I'm happy to chat to like minded enthusiats discussing their own cars in the public parking but I can get that locally without having to endure miles of clogged up motorway with idiot drivers and middle lane hoggers who seem to have an open invitation at weekends to irritate everyone else.
I've no immediate desire to go back but would recommend the event as its a professional set up and well managed offering a fair variety of stuff, even if you manage it only once.

I think that's the perfect summation !!
I went last year and we enjoyed the event.
I was not going to go this year but there are going to be some very special cars and race cars attending so yep, I am going with the missus.
Sure it is an expensive ticket price but what the hell

See you there mate.
Went last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, it probably helped being a glorious sunny day and obviously the cars... THE CARS were amazing.
I'm going again this year because it was so good last year, but will I have the same fizz in my pants.... I doubt it.
It would be good if there were guest speakers, maybe have some of the cars running even trundling up and down a strip of tarmac, I guess there's a whole load of public liability to consider though.
I will be going. Went to the event around 4 years ago and enjoyed it. Interesting that they are now advertising it as an event for any car type now.. Maybe they have not reached their targets..

I'm going. Thanks to this post I'm going to arrive ridiculously early. The description is pretty much what I'm expecting and I'll likely be one and done.
When I bought my Porsche I thought id be all about the car meets and shows.... Three months in and I have zero interest in the social side, it gets old quickly.
Afternoon all,
Does anybody have a spare ticket they might want to offload for Megaphonics at Boxengasse. Maybe you've decided not to go or double booked etc. We unfortunately couldn't count and now one of our party cannot attend and I think pre-books are closed.
Any help welcome.
thanks,
have good evenings all,

I'll let you into a secret, I also think it's not the best looking thing to be honest, from some angles it looks nice, but there was no way I could turn down the opportunity to have a genuine 1980's Gemballa spoiler fitted to my 930. I've got the original one still, but the car is being flown out to Dubai at the end of August and lots of people want to see it, I'm hoping some crazy billionaire offers me an insane amount of money for it.
But back to Megaphonics, if it's a nice day then it's a nice walk around some nice cars, but I think Frank is taking the Micky a bit with the entry fee.

I also had to google this, again looks amazing if it is what google tells me it is. Looking forward to seeing it there.
Went today and what utter chaos trying to get in! After 2hrs of queuing I’d had enough, I buggered off home. Think I might ask for my 45 quid ticket price back. The organisers obviously got this very wrong!

I was checking in to see if any pics had been posted. No youTube posts either. 2hrs queue?! I bet many decided to turn around - how can they get that so wrong? there are fields and fields there for parking no?

Not quite as bad, I queued for an hour, the Nav said I was 2.5 miles away when I hit static traffic, I deliberately arrived a little later hoping to miss the traffic.
Don’t think I’ll bother next year.

I think it took me at least 30 minutes to get in when I attended the first event.
Parking wasn't the issue, the access road was. From memory some fairly vicious speed ramps ? and the necessity to drive slowly past the neighbouring property which was either stables or a stud farm, were the main issues. Ticket checks only served to exacerbate matters.
Got there at 840am no queue, some very small speedbumps that didn't need axle lift.
Getting out took around 30 minutes, but well worth it to see the amazing array of cars they had on display.
I got there at 9am. Sat in the parking queue parked up chilling for an hour. Had a stroll and chat.
They let us in at 10am.
Putting a warning out the day before telling people to turn up late was a mistake. We left at 1pm when all incoming traffic was supposed to stop and we got stuck in a huge jam as too many folks turned up late.
They ideally need another way out but I’m not sure this would be possible.
How did Frank, the guy who owns it all make his money?
I’m guessing he had family money? The wealth is mind blowing.
With all the queues and delays I’ll still go next year. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Porsche GB were great and super friendly. There were some great stands.
I’m okay with the price. The only negative is the entry and exit.
I think I hit the queue at 9:45 took around 30 mins to get in. 2 hours seems ridiculous to me, but if you got there late I could see how the queue could get that long.
Stunning selection of cars as per last year, and as I said in my previous post last year (my first year) I was mind blown by the rarity on display, this year i knew what to expect so it did take the shine off it for me a little. The weather held off for the best part and I bought a few cleaning bits and bobs so all was good.
I actually like going around the parking areas as there's as many rare cars there as there are on display.
I still think it needs something extra, couple of racers old/new, someone from Porsche maybe, Youtubers maybe I saw Harry Metcalfe, Joe Achilles and Mike Brewer walking around as examples all could do talks/presentations etc.
My only gripe was the cost of food/drink (you could have taken your own though). I know it's a captive audience but £15 for a hotdog!!

Sitting watching cars rolling in they each took 6-10 seconds come out of the single lane road. On top of that you had delays of a few minutes every time a vehicle went the opposite way.
Once cars started leaving they had to stop all oncoming traffic, wait until it had all filtered off the road and in to the car park, this took around ten minutes with a traffic entering at a stand still until the single entry road was empty. You then had ten mins of cars leaving, then a few more minutes for the road emotional complete so entering cars could get in.
Parking isn’t an issue, the volume of people and cars isn’t a problem. It’s the single lane entry road.
Next year I’m going to make a full day of it, arriving super early and leaving super late. Instead of trying to get home for the F1 I’ll watch on my phone on Sky Go.
I think it needs to be over two days.
I wish they allowed camping. No facilities needed. I understand they don’t have showers, electric hood ups etc. It would be old school camping.
The Saturday night could be a nice chilled BBQ evening.
I reckon there’ll be some planning issues surrounding camping overnight.
Whatever happened to Frank’s old 964 video?
The posters on this site were brutal with him back in the day and he seems to have successfully wiped all evidence from it off the internet.
Despite all that I think what he’s done is great for the brand, I absolutely love his enthusiasm when chatting with owners on the unplugged series (his Mrs less so, she doesn’t have the knowledge).
I hope he succeeds with Boxengasse, he deserves to but it needs to take the next step into a bigger, longer event. One day doesn’t work for us
Sorry for those who had a nightmare getting in, one of my pals arrived late at midday and it took him an hour in the queue. I was with trade people so arrived very early.
I thought the quality of the exhibits were excellent, lots of cars that you wouldn’t see elsewhere. Much more trade exhibitors and sponsors than last year, but that was ok. I thought the food trucks were no more expensive than any other events, paid £5 for a very good bacon butty which is less than my local caff charges.
Various youtube faces/influencers, Joe Achilles, Mike Brewer, Harry M, Petrol Ped, Minty girl etc so must be getting good social media coverage.
Left at 3pm, hardly any queue to leave of note (maybe 10 mins), the queue ipto the junction of the M40 was much slower and that is hardly Frank’s fault !
No complaints at the entry price - a lot less than going to see a west end show…
The sheer amount of traffic / queuing was ridiculous which is a shame because it was a really nice event.
Unfortunately a victim of its own success (much like Goodwood FoS which I don’t attend anymore).
I’d like to return next year but will have second thoughts about it.
First time going to this event, so I didn't know what to expect other than pics from online from previous events.
Traffic- it took about 30mins at 10am to get in, but parking was great once through the ticket scanner. The traffic issue was always going to be an issue with single lane country roads and thousands turning up. Whilst not great it wouldn't put me off.
Food - great selection - typical festival pricing.
Trade stands - all good, an bought a few things.
Cars! - OMG it was excellent, even the car park of attendees is worth a walk through (just like Goodwood FOS).
Glad I went, and would certainly go again, maybe not every year though.
I’ve just gone down the “Frank” wormhole on YouTube.
I’m a poor curmudgeon who always has a bit of a grump when people with insane wealth are never open about the good fortune that life has given them “I built this workshop and these five cars” (meaning I have to money to get the builders in and pay the mechanics)…. That being said he really knows his stuff and is obviously very legitimate when it comes to his cars. I can’t think of anyone with as much wealth who’s gone as all on in cars, he’s made it his life, not just a hobby.
I have to respect him. It’s made me appreciate the event even more. I like to think if I had millions and millions that I’d do something similar.
Looking back a day later it really was a special event. Apart from the queues it was about perfect. My hot dog was £12 but it was delicious.
One thing I’d add is a model/toy car stand. I’d have loved to have stocked up on displays vehicles for my garage.
I usually go to these things and pick three cars that I’d pick if I could have any. It was impossible at Megaphonics, there were just too many stunners.
Some lovely cars on show but access was a joke.
Total shambles both getting in & out.
Single lane access? Really? For that many cars?
Waited 2 hours to get in.
Saw some nice cars parked in a field.
Paid £12 for a hot dog.
Went home (waiting another hour to get out),
Not doing that again.
Real shame.
When I wrote that the price was deliberate to keep numbers down, folk scoffed at me. The organiser mentioned it on Facebook; their thinking is that if they charged less, given the poor access and exit, it would at least be manageable, albeit uncomfortable for the attendees, and they'll still get their gate receipts. I fancied going, but didn't want to put the cooling system of my car through it.
My son and I got there at around 9:45 in separate cars had a great drive to the venue with a few 911s think we queued for about half an hour max. I thought the event was great such a great eclectic mix of cars, more trade stands than last year. Agree they could do with a few more food stalls maybe a mix of price point for food they have the room.
Will definitely go next year and will stay a bit longer…
Really good show. We arrived just after midday, took about 20 minutes to get in. Left just after 3pm, no issues getting out, maybe 10 minutes.
A thoroughly enjoyable day
Jones the cat said:
How do they justify £12 for a hotdog!?
I know one needs to make a profit but come on that is worse than airport prices.
It was £12 for a 6" hot dog and £15 for a12" that was just a plain hotdog with sauces, onions etc.
They had other hot dogs that went towards £20, plus a small tray of fries was £5
Like I said I think the food prices were OTT, but they have to cover the plot fees I'm sure.
The actual show was very good, great venue but the access is a real pita,1.5 hrs to travel 3 miles put a real downer on the day, great to meet up with old friends and allow a few folk to sit in my car for pics which made there day.
I'd read the warnings beforehand about staggering arrival, so arrived around 11AM, thinking the initial rush might be over by then. Mistake! I ended up queueing for just over an hour. On leaving, I was out within 15 minutes, so much different.
As to the show and premises, well, I'd say first rate! Some of the cars on show were breathtaking - two 904 GTS's and apair of 908's not to mention the gaggle of 956/962 cars and at least one 917. In my book that alone is worth the investment of time and ticket price.
The workshops were predictably enticing. I could cheerfully have spent all day there alone.
I'd go again, but early, and probably with a packed lunch, as queueing all that time for a tray of chips doesn't do it for me.
Hats off to Frank for creating something in the image he wants, and then sticking to it. I think if I had the money, I'd probably not do much differently!

Are we expecting a good show this year?
I m giving it a miss, might revisit next year if the access issues have been resolved
Ditto, went the last two years, didn't feel like there was much difference between year 1 and year 2 to make me want to go for a 3rd year. I know it's now two days and a different format but there's only so many static displays I can take.

Are you mistaking it for a cigar?
I've been but given the same type of format over the years not enough to get me back when it's a 4hr journey to/from the site. Someone suggested there should be a guest and audience event and it appears Frank has latched onto this so it will be interesting how it pans out this year.
There's always a danger that when these events grow and become too big they lose the impact of smaller curated set ups.
we have tickets for all day Saturday, so with the different timings and new road layout, hopefully things have been learned, looking forward to it, first time for us, normally its all about the yanks, so its a nice split of shows for us now and currently very little hospital appointments, enjoying the breathing space x

You'll be the water cooled field with a few K's more cars, and you won't be there long enough for anyone to say hi, it's an epic event just go and enjoy.
thanks freakuk, will do, just hoping the damn screw i noticed in the tyre last night gets me to the local tyre place, luckily they got one in for me today, and can also check out the air con, seems thats my birthday presents sorted!!
Well, me and the brother in law are heading down tomorrow. Never been to the event before, but we're both like kids in a sweet shop with videos about the historic race cars, so hopefully the display won't disappoint. Keeping an open mind.

you'll love it, first Boxengasse is always the best one.
Superb event. Nicely curated, with the exception of a lack of 928’s.
Easily my highlight was walking back from the porta-bogs, to find my brother in law in the coffee queue and out of the corner of my eye, recognising an old chap I was rushing past; Richard Attwood.
Had a brief, enjoyable chat walking along, didn’t take a selfie because I’d have felt a c-unit and it would have spoiled the memory. Legend, hero.
Just came out. What a disappointment.
Expecting to speak to organisers of Euro road trips and potentially teams to enter racing at club level, but instead it was flooded with vendors or plastic wraps, PPF, micro cloths and Fast & Furious spoiler kits.
Display cars equally boring apart from some historically significant 996 and 997 race cars

Where are you based? look at Podium Tours and Ottano, both do great euro events, can intro you to either.
Not sure if it was how it was this year or a mistake today but it was better in past years when they split the air cooled / water cooled cars up.
Can't quite think why but didnt seem as busy or as good this year to the past two years!? :/

What was the hotdog price this year?
First time for me and thought it was pretty good. Not a huge amount to see but a nice feel to the event
Access and departure a doddle
Lebanese wrap £12 and absolutely delicious
Sounds to me like these kind of events have lost something, when I bought my first Porsche some 20 plus years ago and subsequent years to circa 2012 events were a joy and good value ie classics at the castle c 2012 now they seem to appeal to a different type of demographic who are happy to pay £15 for a dodgy sausage in a roll and a to view a small turn out of classics and pay a large entrance fee for the privilege or am I missing something?
Stood in front of the stage this afternoon, nothing happened... No Dickie Attwood... Did we go to the wrong place? Food vendors shutting up shop at 16:00, place deserted. £40 for a half day ticket - felt poor value to me.
Talking of Dickie , many years ago me and the wife had a Porsche day at Silverstone when the Cayenne and Panamrea were first on the scene we were out testing some cars and my wife didn t realise it was Richard Atwood sitting in the passenger seat as an instructor in her car , oh the good old days of Porsche ownership.

Well spotted.
That was 11:45am on the Saturday. They did mention he was due to talk again on the Sunday, but I was not there, so can neither confirm or deny that actually happened.
I was there on Sat a spotted my old car in the car park. If the owner of the Racing Yellow 981 GT4 reg starting SD65 would like to know more about its early history, please DM me.
I went on Saturday on my own. I saw the Richard Attwood interview and it was good. It was my first time and I even got a fist pump from Mr Cassidy himself.
I needed a day away from home and my usual stresses, so for what it's worth I enjoyed it, including the drive there and back in my 911.
Also saw a beautiful German Shepherd there and the owner allowed me to say hello, made my day!
I travelled from Yorkshire.
Open minded never been before.
Bought a Saturday full day ticket due to travel/did not know what to expect.
I thought the location/setting/buildings & access etc was very good.
Some interesting cars on display, good trade stands.
Cars in the car park worth a quick walk round.
Food & drink outlets very good.
All in all a good event, after 4 hours I had more than covered it
Similar experience to Classics at the Castle.
Travel time 6 hours, time spent at the event 4 hours....would I go again?..probably would

Yeah, 14:45 on Sunday. I was there. He was not!

He was there as advertised on the Sunday.
Myself and many others sat and watched both Richard Attwood and David Clark for roughly 40 minutes, was interesting conversation about the differences between racing in Attwood's era and the current world.
