Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Looks like about $1700 - $2000 for the Kenwood DNX9960 installed which is on par with the latest factory unit but with MUCH better "all around" unit in the Kenwood.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After looking for months at early 997 Cabs I just couldn't pass up this '02 996 Cab when I saw it. Very clean with 22,500 miles and came with 5 year 50,000 bumper to bumper warranty. All for about $25K less than the 997 (with more miles). Sorry for waiting a few weeks before posting pics but I HAD to get the clears on before I took pictures
Short shifter is on order and should arrive this week (I went with the Schnell as I had such good success with it on my '99). I'll be installing (or having installed) a Kenwood DNX9960 Nav in the next few weeks then I'll just drive it for a while.
Very nice, I'm happy to see you got the right color. Reminds my of the '99 cab I just sold, Arctic with Graphite, but mine had a grey top. Looking for a new to me car, I still gravitate to silver for some reason. I don't love the color, but it looks very good and fitting on a P car, must be why so many are this color. Maybe it's because I don't like washing cars and silver always looks clean.
Anyway, looks like you got a sweetheart there, and at the end of the day, whether it's a 996, 997, TT, or whatever, it's all good, so long as the top comes off! ;-)
I hope that it works out for you. It's my understanding that the 997 cabs are a much more durable, less creaky design, than the 996 cabs. Time will tell. There are some very good deals to be had.
congrats! Looks like you found a real gem with some nice options at a great discount. for the low miles you can't go wrong to drive it a bit longer then install any of the suspension upgrades and maybe intake / exhaust mods and you'll have a real nice cab. wait til the next generation Carrera shows up before you make another move...
Dan, Not sure about the "less creaky" as during my search I drove no less than a dozen 997's and, of course, I've owned a 996 cab before. Windshield creaks on cabs seems (to me) to be about the same (given the same amount of miles on each) for both. About $1500 - $2000 for a preventative IMS/RMS upgrade in the near future should take care of any engine concerns (and I planned on it once I decided to go 996). The 5 year 50K bumper to bumper warranty included in the price was a real eye opener. Looks like about $1700 - $2000 for the Kenwood DNX9960 installed which is on par with the latest factory unit but with MUCH better "all around" unit in the Kenwood.
Since this was an all cash purchase, I'm really liking having the extra $25K in my bank account. I don't feel any less satisfaction in the driving experience in the 996 than driving the 997. They seem very similar to me but my bank balance seems much happier right now. Sometimes depreciation can work in your favor
