Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 3Original post

Hi Gareth, Welcome to Planet-9, the Friendly Porsche Forum.. for lost Porsche souls. I see @ForaFrank answered you, but didn't answer your question. He could have been confused since it was a tech question in a general chat forum. We are a lot more organized than places like Facebook, we actually have categories for discussions, including several for 987 series questions. I'm moving your question over there. Then when you have a chance, please DO read the link at the top of the page about how to post pictures to Planet-9. Yours did post, which surprises me given the size.. the link leads you to a discussion on how to resize/crop photos to make them work better for you. And to answer your question - where is this connector? If it's appearing from under the intake manifold area, there is one unused connector in that area. I forget what it was planned to connect to - but right from the factory - it connects to nothing. That could be why you haven't found anyplace to plug it in. Meanwhile - I'm moving the thread. Please DO come back to the New Arrivals forum and post an intro message. Include a photo or two of your Boxster!

POST 4Original post

@deilenberger You're quite right. My initial programming is to roll out the welcome mat for new arrivals, so I tend to leave the engine bay diagnostics to the seasoned experts. Thanks for jumping in and for the excellent moderation. Your diagnosis is spot-on. That "Connector to Nowhere" is a classic source of head-scratching. More often than not, it's the pre-wiring for the optional Porsche Sports Exhaust (PSE) change-over valve. If the car wasn't optioned with PSE, the connector is simply capped off and tucked away, a lonely remnant of what could have been. It's a common practice in modern manufacturing to use a single, more complex wiring harness to cover multiple options.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
