Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any of yall have any experience with Schnell Headers and can attest to any power gains, the quality, or any problems aka CEL? They seem like quite the bargain, especially when they are equal length headers. If yall aren't sure about what I'm referring to, here it is... http://www.vertexauto.com/ShowItem/2...e%20Basic.aspx And Happy Thanksgiving Yall!

POST 3Original post

I may be wrong but I'm fairly sure that a CEL light because of aftermarket exhaust parts is usually because of cats rather than headers

[QUOTE=sweet victory;12792590]**** quality Appreciate the input, but was that good or bad quality? Right and I hear of the muffler bypasses some times as well.

POST 6Original post

I would like to see the data that proves a "13HP" gain. Not sure about that.

POST 7Original post

if youve ever put performance exhaust parts on your car, youll know they do make hp gains, unquestionably, but its better to put complete exhaust systems on , not just one part

That is not even close to the truth, sometimes the stock exhaust performs better and makes more power than an aftermarket exhaust.

POST 9Original post

I dont think this is true for the M96. Your just replacing factory headers with aftermarket headers.

POST 10Original post

Their product description states all welds are double welded. My photo shows that half of the collector has been fully welded. There appears to be a heat effected zone, but it is evident there's hardly any penetration. You can see a crack started at the joint and has propagated significantly. It's hard to believe someone looked at this, and thought they did a good job and it's a joke these made it through QC. Wish I knew the name of the Indie that installed these because I would call them out on it too. Reference for what a proper purge weld should look like if you're looking for quality. I used to work as a fabricator before I got my engineering degree. Feel free to ask any questions if there's anything you're still unsure about.

POST 11Original post

I had a set of Schnell headers on my 986 Boxster. They were loud and not especially well put together. Examples: the flange that mates to the exhaust ports on the engine block wasn't flat, and the 02 sensor bungs were full of sloppy welding. The sound on the Boxster was terrible. I ran them for less than a day.

meh It really depends and with our exhaust system, or any system really, it doesn't have to happen all at once. I'll argue that the biggest bottleneck in our system is in the cats and then the muffler, and after that the design of the crossover. Plus, at 15 years old, removing the headers to put on something marginally better doesn't sound like a great idea, or, trying to extract snapped and seized bolts doesn't sound like a great idea.
