Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

Suggestion

One job I plan to do is check the connections on the ABS / PSM pump.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

What on Earth is that! Any help would be appreciated. 2005 Boxster . Thanks.

POST 2Original post

PSM needs to know your wheel speeds (all 4) and the speed you're turning the steering wheel at (if you are.) There is a sensor on the steering wheel, it's the steering angle sensor. You might see if Durametic can give you a live readout for the steering angle sensor - see if it makes sense. If one of the wheel sensors goes bad - ABS also goes away, but I'm not sure if there is a warning for that since ABS is really part of PSM.

POST 3Original post

Excellent, I'll check thanks. The weird thing is that it came on in the garage after I hadn't driven it for about 3 months (Colorado). Not moving at all. I read somewhere that cold can make this code get thrown. Guess I'll see.

POST 4Original post

If you disconnect the battery and hook it back up or kill the battery the PSM light will come on. Drive it a few minutes and it will go off. Possible ?

POST 5Original post

I've cleared the code via Durametric, but it comes right back. I'll try disconnecting the battery . It's been on a battery tender since October. The " Porsche " one but the darn battery light never turns green and it barely cranked over last time. I guess that lasted a year and a half... I can't/won't drive it until all the snow is gone from my street!

POST 6Original post

If your battery has croaked and the voltage is low, you can get all kinds of error codes. If the car "barely cranks over" even though you've had it on a maintainer, that tells me the battery is toast.

POST 7Original post

Bad battery can cause strange problems. Id fix that first.

POST 8Original post

Apparently the tender I have is notorious for failing. But I think it's still charging, or I presume it would be dead after five months of very cold temperatures. But yes, I was thinking about replacing the battery anyway.

POST 10Original post

You have a nice charger. That is not the same as having a good battery .

POST 11Original post

If the battery is below 11vdc I had to reset and calibrate the steering wheel angle sensor. Easy procedure to follow but I do not know if Durametric can do that (probably it can)

POST 12Original post

Well, I replaced the battery . Fired up like a champ. Lol. The 4420 code was still there, along with the steering wheel sensor issue. FIxed that, but 4420 remains. Any other ideas?

POST 14Original post

Sorry to drag this up again but I have the same issue, albeit very sporadic. The rate of turn sensor is actually the little sensor that sits in the transmission tunnel under the dash - often better known as a yaw sensor. I swapped mine out for a new one but the problem still persists. One job I plan to do is check the connections on the ABS / PSM pump. After that who knows - maybe there's an algorithm for the yaw sensor which means a failure of another component could make the PSM 'think' the yaw sensor is faulty where it actually isn't!? Any thoughts would be most welcome. Ian B

POST 16Original post

Raising from the dead on the off chance this has been seen and solved by someone else. I have a 2007 997.1 with the same symptom. Because of other codes shown, especially these two, this car might have a CAN network wiring issue and not a bad yaw sensor: 8004 Terminal 50 — starter/ignition circuit issue (Terminal 50 is a common Porsche/European term for ignition-on power feed). C102 CAN Single-Wire Operation ‘Comfort’ — CAN bus in comfort network has a single-wire error, meaning a disrupted communication line.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
