Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Then use the money you save to buy a Honda or spare M96 for the shelf.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.
I was able to verify via an aftermarket warranty company (Warrentech) that my engine was indeed replaced in 2003 with around 65k miles. Currently have 105k so I have pretty low miles on the motor itself.
My engine's serial number is M96/04AT6616609 which indicates that it is a replacement motor from Porsche.
Originally, I planned on keeping the car for a few years and transitioning to a 997. Being just over 6'4", the 996 definitely isn't the most comfortable car for me, but I am thinking about just being religious with maintenance and eventually turning it into a beater car so to speak.....obviously a few years down the road.
Anyone find themselves in this situation? Lol! When my lease is up on my 2015 Challenger, I will have some decisions to make
Maybe add a 2nd Porsche to my home!
varsorama,
Off topic but maybe helpful.
These might help get you some leg room.

Also an Extend55 will bring the steering wheel back some. Gert at Carnewl carries them sometimes.

I have used both with pretty good success.
I wouldn't call mine a beater as it does get proactively maintained. But I will vouch for the flexibility and reliability of the 996. I've got nearly 160k miles and use it every day for work and play.
It really is a dual purpose car as it can handle commuting duties but then I slap the magnetic numbers on the doors and I'm ready to autocross or hit the track. Now if you're used to being coddled in a modern car you might miss the driving distractions and think the suspension is too stiff or the exhaust too loud, but for me it's perfect and I enjoy every minute behind the wheel.
Yes I agree, I am religious about maintenance and take care of it....but don't lose sleep if the front bumper gets chipped up or if there is an interior rattle here and there.
My suspension is a bit tired so will most likely be doing shocks all around. Other than that, I drive it everywhere. Snow, rain, doesn't matter
You mean like one day you'll make the decision to never wash it again? Ya, ive had those, its liberating. Give it 15 more years and you can call it a rat rod. Then use the money you save to buy a Honda or spare M96 for the shelf.
If you want to upgrade wait until a '09+ is in reach, IMHO.
You might think about elevating your front of the seat track, 1/2" higher feels like inches backward to me.
Haha
I actually considered upgrading to a 996 turbo later on. I do love the '09 models due to the PDK. I am a manual transmission guy but all these new automatics are outstanding. I opted for the 8 spd auto in my Challenger and it can bang gears pretty well!
I always need to have 2 cars, that's just me lol!
