The Porsche is a 944 turbo, had a spin in the wet at Silverstone this year although many people including Callum Lockie said it was the slipperyest they had ever known.

Suggestion

I had Kumho Ecsta tyres on the 944 a couple of years ago and they were terrible, as they needed replacing I went over to Goodyear Eagle f1's and the difference was like night and day.

After all what's the use of buying a Porsche and all it's abilities and then throwing all that away with non-approved tyre.

The main complaint with the kumho's was the performance in the wet. The price difference was not worth the lack of performance with the kumho's. Barrie

I've used them on two cars both for track days. I've had no problems in the dry. One of the cars was 4wd no problems in the wet on that one. The Porsche is a 944 turbo, had a spin in the wet at Silverstone this year although many people including Callum Lockie said it was the slipperyest they had ever known. I'm very cautious of the 944 in the wet on the road. They are very inexpensive though. Two 255x40-17 £144 incl. fitting and VAT.

From an official point of view. NO No No to any tyre without the Porsche N rating. All these tyres have been fully tested and approved by Porsche under test conditions to destruction. Many of them being sent back to the manufacturer for modifications 2 to 3 times. The same size and type of tyre without the N rating is quite different. For the extra few pounds these tyres cost, it's money well spent. After all what's the use of buying a Porsche and all it's abilities and then throwing all that away with non-approved tyre.
