Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I got mine used off of ebay from the Porsche guys in New Mexico who are always taking cars apart, I think I paid around $200 for them.

Suggestion
Using something like Permatex Right Stuff would make it set a lot closer.

Otherwise I would use the 3M permanent double sided tape.

Suggestion
Heat the plate to soften the adhesive with a heat gun on low and then use monofilament with wooden dowel handles (set up like a european cheese cutter or windshield removal tool - so you dont cut your hand and have more leverage).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I tried heat and dental floss and that didn't work on mine.
I am switching out the door sill scuffplates on my 2004 C4S Cab. It seems the old scuff plates are attached via a double sided adhesive (vs screwed in place). Can anyone give me advice on how to remove my old sill plates without damaging (bending) them?
Thanks,
Gil
If they are the same as the coupe there are 2 plugs on the inside of the sill, you have to remove them then there are two allen head bolts (5mm I think but can't recall for sure) that are behind the plugs (they are a bit deep in there) that you have to loosen (don't need to remove the sill slides behind them). It can be done with the driver's seat in place but it's easier with the driver's seat out.
I think that may be the trim piece that holds the frunk and decklid releases (and programmble seats on some cars) that is held in by the allen bolts. I believe the sill plate/scuff protector, is held on by adhesive alone.
Heat the plate to soften the adhesive with a heat gun on low and then use monofilament with wooden dowel handles (set up like a european cheese cutter or windshield removal tool - so you dont cut your hand and have more leverage). You may need to reapply heat a few times as the adhesive cools and hardens.

I finally found that at the front of them, I could get an interior trim tool (on the far right in the picture below) up underneath the sill plate.
Then heat and lots of struggling I was able to force it down the length of the sill plate.
It was a huge chore, but I was done in about 30 minutes.
One of the Carrera center pieces is a bit bent up, but both sill plates could be re-installed.
I now have the plain black metal sill plates from Rennline.

Rennline ones came with doublesided tape already half applied.
Just peel and stick.
Otherwise I would use the 3M permanent double sided tape.
I use it to reattach nameplates, emblems, and trim on client's cars.
It holds up real well.
