Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi I read somewhere that the 996 turbo motors are a different block than the NA 996 engines (lemans block?) and the turbo's are less likely to have the engine failures that these models of Porsche have. Assuming this is all true, what is the difference between the turbo and the turbo "S" models. Thanks Finn

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Both but mostly the differences between the turbo and the turbo"S"

POST 4Original post

Factory Turbo cars use an entirely different engine, from the cases up, than the normally aspirated cars. Nearly all the internals are different as well.

POST 5Original post

Turbo S came with the K24 turbos standard instead of the K16. The X50 (K24) was an upgrade to the standard K16 before the car was badged as the Turbo S.
