Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I took the advice from others that have changed plugs in the past with the 996.
Leading evidence: 'Replace plugs in the past' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace boxster spark plugs and coils - 986 / 987' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
Easy to replace plugs but have all of your socket extensions (about 45 cm to 60 cm of length).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Wayne..Is this the same procedure for the C2 996 3.4ltr engine? Is the 996 engine referred to as the Boxster engine? If its the same procedure I will be changing my plugs very soon as I have no idea when they were last done.

Pelican Technical Article: Replacing Boxster Spark Plugs and Coils - 986 / 987
Yes. With the exception of a few slightly different exhaust components in the way, the procedure is almost identical for the 996 Carrera engine. We will be having a 996-dedicated article on this, coming out soon.

Just replaced my sparkplugs and tubes yesterday. Put rear on jackstands and both rear wheels off. Remove the plastic wheel well covers from in front of rear wheels (two plastic bolts). Easy to replace plugs but have all of your socket extensions (about 45 cm to 60 cm of length). Had three difficult parts, accessing passenger side front plug, removing tubes (very tough to get a grip on to pull them out), tough torquing spark plugs as my torque wrench could not access the tight places. All in all it took me about 4 hours and I am not much of a mechanic. Laying on cold concrete garage floor was special... The coils are easy to remove. I noticed each one of mine has cracks in the hard plastic housing. I guess I will be replacing them soon.
I recently had some stalling problems at idle at running temperature and my durametric revealed a bank 2 front 02 sensor heater fault. While I had the car up on the jackstands I switched the two front O2 sensors. Drove all day today with no stalling. Ran very smooth. I don't know if the new spark plugs made the difference or the switching of the O2 sensors. I did not add new sensors, only reversed them, right for left. Could be there was a bad connection that got fixed in the switch.
I took the advice from others that have changed plugs in the past with the 996.
I removed the exhaust system in probably 20 minutes. 1 clamp and three nuts on each side and you got a complete wide open space to work with.
Don't struggle with other suggestions.
Jack the car up. Remove the wheels, exhaust system, a couple easy plug protector plates and you can get to all the plugs.
Use a Torque wrench. You do not want to have to go back and trouble-shoot
a loose plug. Oh... I don't care what others have said... put a little
Permatex Anti-Sieze on the plug threads. Cheers.
