Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am purchasing a 2004 996 and have heard stories about the Self Leveling headlights. How can I tell if my vehicle has these lights?

POST 2Original post

There's a self-test function...I think you start with the lights turned on and the ignition off, then start the ignition. The car has to be facing a wall or it should be dark out, so you can see the headlight beams. They should dip momentarily when you start the ignition, then come back up. Even if they do work, they still depend on a little arm connected to the front suspension to be connected, so check that too if you're not sure.
