Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I've been away from the 911 for a while and one came up in the neighborhood. When I checked the VIN at a couple free sites (including Kelley BB) I get different responses, from "turbo" to 3.6L to 3.8L. Anyone direct me to a good and free source so I can also see original options that came with the car? Thanks. VIN: WP0AB29906S743041

POST 2Original post

When I was looking at a Cayman , I used vinanalytics.com. It’s a paid service, but it will list out every option with the option codes. I ended up buying a different car but I was impressed with the detail.

POST 3Original post

+1 on vinanalytics, but if you sign up for a free account, you can get an accurate build sheet on pretty much any Porsche sold in the US.

POST 5Original post

Thanks ref. Vinanalytics. Funny but they too got some basic info incorrect....e.g., saying it's a 6spd manual (is PDK ). Other sites even say it's a 3.6 (it's 3.8), and one even said it's Turbo (not!). One site said it's EITHER an AWD or a RWD- 2WD (they mention both possibilities). The discrepancies and outright incorrect info make me disbelieve the database and question any entry. I was hoping there is a Porschophile on the forum who runs their own database and could check. Thanks.

POST 6Original post

@baloo , It sounds like you know what the car is. What other information are you looking for?

POST 8Original post

I had 5 minutes with the car and other than the obvious quick-eye items (trans, engine size, sunroof, color ext/int), I want to know how it was optioned out....you know, the Extras. I know that info has to be in print in some record book, right? Thanks.
