Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
If the calipers flex, there is not much you can do to fix them short of replacing the pad retainer with a threaded bolt that fits through the pads and tightens to prevent the flex.
Leading evidence: 'Run hard' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace pad retainer' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

One thing to be aware of from these types of calipers used hard for a long time...they may flex under braking when they get hot.

Suggestion
Cayman S uses the same 996 brakes but I am not sure if they are stamped with the 996 part #.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am hoping someone here can help me properly identify a set of calipers I have. The rears, no problem since they are 996.352.425 and 996.352.426. It is the fronts I am having trouble with. The numbers are 996.351.427 and 996.351.428, since I could not find any reference to those numbers, I cross checked the
second
set of numbers which are 20.7310.03 and 20.7310.04, these numbers are found on 429/430 calipers. Can anyone I.D. these?
Thank you, Ron
I don't see those numbers either. You will need to measure the two piston sizes to confirm what they are. How about a picture of the whole caliper, not just the numbers. Do you have pads? You might need measurements of the pads as well.
Hi Tony,
The pistons appear to be 36mm/40mm, and no I do not have any pads. As you can tell by the photo below what ever these came off of was
ran hard
, I am assuming someones track car.
Thank you for the help, Ron
you might send a PM (private message) to Bill Verburg. He generally moderates on the 911 Board. He is an excellent brake resource and may be able to nail it for you. If all else fails, I'd contact Brembo and find out what year and model they came from. Since the calipers are red, they either came on a carrera S, C4S or possibly a turbo. The stock 996 base C2 came with black calipers. Cayman S uses the same 996 brakes but I am not sure if they are stamped with the 996 part #. The 996S and 997's with red calipers are the same stamped number starting with 996.
BTW, they do look like they were used for track. One thing to be aware of from these types of calipers used hard for a long time...they may flex under braking when they get hot. That means that the pistons actually spread apart where the pad retainer is on top. The flex is hard to determine by watching but you'll feel it both manually when brake pressure is applied and when you put your foot on the brake for track use. You will find a soft pedal. If the calipers flex, there is not much you can do to fix them short of replacing the pad retainer with a threaded bolt that fits through the pads and tightens to prevent the flex.
