I think even if you brim your washer bottle before dropping it off they'll still manage to stiff you for a bottle as they'll have made room for a dose by testing the washers

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

With the roads now getting grim with salt and standing water, and in anticipation of needing to top up my Boxster with screenwash, I wondered if any PH'ers have any recommendations beyond Porsche's own brand?

POST 2Original post

Try Halfords screen wash it comes in different smells like apple/Lemon. It not the one that is the already mixed. It has never frozen when I have used it !!

POST 3Original post

Anything original equipment and GERMAN: Audi, VW, Merc, BMW etc. IMO the Halfords stuff is horrid and false economy.

POST 5Original post

IIRC someone posted this time last year that there's a winter-specific one from VW (or Porsche, but I think it was VW) which is particularly good. I've never been organised enough to get any though. S

daveknott5 said: With the roads now getting grim with salt and standing water, and in anticipation of needing to top up my Boxster with screenwash, I wondered if any PH'ers have any recommendations beyond Porsche's own brand? Seriously................ It's post's like this that threaten to make Porsche (owners) dull as pi$$y dishwater. Are you seriously asking about other brand screen wash??? url] |http://thumbsnap.com/qsM9k0lV[/url]

POST 7Original post

For a slightly more serious answer, the OPC Porsche Screenwash is very effective but contains nothing to prevent it freezing. So I tend to dilute the working solution with 1 part in 4 100% iso-propanol. This does an excellent job of clearing the screen without blocking the nozzles. BTW, I have several friends who mixed screenwash types and the combinations that resulted actually turned to a jelly like substance that needed the whole system to be dismantled as the pipes blocked. So, if you want to change type of screenwash, empty the existing stuff out first.

POST 9Original post

You need to be really careful here. Using non OEM screenwash will invalidate the warranty.

POST 20Original post

Hmm, After some further internet trawling, it appears that as well as the DR.OK.WAK screenwash for non-winter use, the approved anti-freeze product is this one: SONAX NanoPro Xtreme 02325050 Anti-Freeze and Anti-Mist Concentrate 5 L And it is £25-30 a pop on Amazon. (offers a selection of knives to Molly).

POST 21Original post

How much? I think I'll stick with paying £1.49+vat for 4 litres of concentrate.

POST 22Original post

If you Google 'Boxster screen wash', this post is the first result :-) Seriously though, you need the stuff a couple of times a year and it costs 1/10 of a full tank of petrol? go to an OPC and ask for some. Grab a coke while you're at it :-)

POST 28Original post

I have half a dozen of those each with the first dose squeezed out of them. I used to think it was very kind of the OPC to give me a nice litre bottle of Mobil 1 in a presentation case too... until I read the invoice properly.

I think even if you brim your washer bottle before dropping it off they'll still manage to stiff you for a bottle as they'll have made room for a dose by testing the washers As for Mobil 1, I was infuriated to find that despite there being a not very old, unopened bottle in there from the last service they STILL put a new one in. I think if a 25,000 mile GT2 were to ever need TWO emergency litres of oil there'd be something to worry about!

Zyp said: And there's me thinking I got given something from Porsche for free £4.27 on my invoice. Same as this - http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod125861/Porsche-W... The shipping cost is £10.79 and it appears that the going rate for a bottle of this is between £7-£9, the non-Porsche branded DR.OK is actually more expensive than the non-Porsche stuff, I assume this is why the colour is different, Porsche owners get it at a cheaper cost. I got supplied this today for £7.62 and was interested to see the DR.OK.WACK label on the back:

POST 31Original post

In that case, I should feel like I've had a bargain! But alas, no.....in two years I've never had to top the washer bottle up and don't envisage having to do it anytime soon.
