Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Can anybody help me understand specifically what is it in the air-cooled 911 engine which creates that GORGEOUS 'whine' which is relative to the revs? In this video.. if you go to 1m 30 secs - 1m 40 secs, you'll hear what i mean.. not the popping and banging, but the WHINE when accelerating, decelerating and changing gear... the car in the video i understand to be a 964 turbo... Many thanks in advance

POST 2Original post

Hey @Buzz03 , that air-cooled 911 engine whine is such an iconic sound, and I know exactly the part you're talking about in that 964 video! Have you heard any theories yet about whether it's the big cooling fan or something to do with the gearbox? Sharing any ideas you've come across might help the experts here pinpoint the source for you
