Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had a navigation unit installed in my 1999 911 about a week ago. Two nights ago I bought an iPod to hook up to it, when I went for the wire (that connects to the iPod) I pulled on it a little harder then I should have. When I went to turn the navi back on it wouldn't turn on, after getting a bit upset, I went to turn the car on, but that wouldn't turn on either The lights come on, dash lights, everything functions as normal - but the engine will not turn, or make any sound for that matter... Is their an additional fuse box that I can check, or a wire that might have been unplugged that may be causing this? Side note, I left the battery unplugged over night last night, hoping I can just reset something to no avail...

POST 2Original post

My suggestion would be to take it back to who ever installed the unit for you, it is possible that something may have grounded out, I'd hate to think the worse case but if it is gounding into the factory wiring harness it can be quite pricey to replace if necessary... My suggestion is to disconnect the battery and get it check asap.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If it grounded out would the dash and everything still light up?

POST 4Original post

Sounds like your immoblizer has been activated. There is a wire connected to the stock radio (chassis?) that needs to be isolated from ground when the radio is removed. Did you try locking then unlocking the car with the remote to see if it will reset? If it beeps once when it locks it might be looking for the radio.

POST 5Original post

Just been reading another thread re clutch switches. The clutch has to be depressed for the starter to come in. Could it be a faulty switch at the clutch pedal. Just a thought. If so they are only $20 from Pelican parts and can be swapped out in 15 minutes.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
