Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I don't need a cup holder at all, but if the easiest solution is to buy a swing-type or if my existing dual pop-out will fill the need, that's great, too.
Leading evidence: 'Fill need' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Fill need' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I presume I need to change to the swing-out cup holder or otherwise fill the space somehow?

Suggestion
If you want the oem swing out cup holders that involves replacing the entire horseshoe with one that integrates the cupholders, it can't be added on by itself.

The hvac is going to replace the slot the cupholders are in right now, it should screw into existing mount points once you remove the cup holders iirc.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Getting ready to install a GT3 style center console delete and will need to relocate my climate control unit from the lowest slot to the upper most slot. A few questions on parts I need that I can't seem to get a good read on:
What is the part needed to install the climate control unit into the top slot? I have the trim bezel, but not the actual slotted(?) part and I've seen a few differing things here. Is there just one part per side to give that channel it sits in?
I have the dual pop-out cup holders. I presume I need to change to the swing-out cup holder or otherwise fill the space somehow? I don't need a cup holder at all, but if the easiest solution is to buy a swing-type or if my existing dual pop-out will fill the need, that's great, too. Do I need any parts to mount either cup holder solution at the very top just below the vents?
The hvac is going to replace the slot the cupholders are in right now, it should screw into existing mount points once you remove the cup holders iirc. The trim just covers around the exterior for appearance, when you remove the lower trim you'll see it's press fit into the backing and there are some rubber nubs that can be removed from the old trim piece, you'll put those on the new trim piece otherwise it will fall out. If you want the oem swing out cup holders that involves replacing the entire horseshoe with one that integrates the cupholders, it can't be added on by itself.
I did something similar in this thread. There are issues and part numbers therein:

I think it's much more simple than my situation if you don't have a double-din stereo.
That being said, I want the GT3 console delete...but I'm finding that my double cubbys very useful in an interior with few places to store stuff close by.
Depending on what you need to store, you can definitely have a cubby under the dash along with the console delete. I mostly stick things in the door pockets though lol, the extra leg room of the console delete is so worth it.
Thanks for the responses. I'm just ditching the cupholders, they're next to worthless and pretty brittle anyway. If I find myself truly missing a cup holder, I'll sort it out then with another solution.
