Ran a cats back switchable system on my 991 Carrera S and it was audio porn.

Suggestion
I don't have a GT3 but I can recommend a cargraphic exhaust, well worth it!

Suggestion
Perhaps some differences with the engine mapping but the exhaust shouldn't affect this as tuning is not a necessity when changing the pipe.

What is your reasoning for not wanting to run aftemarket cats on the track?

Personally I'd prefer not to run aftermarket cats on the track so consider your needs and options in that regard.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Porsche people, just looking for opinions on what people think would be a good after market exhaust for the MK1, may be inclined to do from cats back, just looking for feedback.
Thanks
Welcome and would love to see some pics of your GT3. I have M&M cup system on my mk2 but it's headers and muffler with centre exit. Absolutely love it but there are many options out there. Fabspeed have a number of options for catback so may be worth looking on their website?
Hi Hugh, it was great meeting you on sunday aswell!!
Hi Spiller, give me a little time to work this forum out and i will post.
i actually contacted Europipe, but they don't do GT3 exhaust anymore only turbo stuff. they told me to steer clear of american stuff as they don't have experience with MK1 cars, they were never delivered to the states, they got there stuff together on the MK2 vehicles.
Europe told me to look at the M&M system as a great recommendation on their behalf, also cargraphic and Milltek.

Cool, looking for something to give me a little more power but mostly an even nicer noise, got to admit i love the sound when it starts to push above 4000rpm, may have to contact Mille Miglia, ill have to look them up when i get a spare moment.
Lovely looking car Peter. Is it a touring or Clubsport? Hard to tell from the pics but looks like I see leather bucket seats in one of the photos? Interesting that Europipe said that about the American companies as from my understanding, the Mk1 and Mk2 exhaust systems are identical. Perhaps some differences with the engine mapping but the exhaust shouldn't affect this as tuning is not a necessity when changing the pipe.
What is your reasoning for not wanting to run aftemarket cats on the track? My M&M system is catless but the OEM cats are prone to failure on the track anyway. The exhaust stinks quite a bit when at a traffic light with the windows down with my system but it's worth it for the sound and performance!
It a comfort spec with leather recaros from factory, also has had a Motorsport diff centre done, punches hard out of the corners but losses out on top end, enough for Phillip island, if I get it right it just missed the limiter in 6th gear at the end off the straight.
Also got radio and aircon,.
think I'll take a look at car graphic, heard Starr performance did a great exhaust but it would have to be second hand purchase now.
Hi Peter,
'I've got a Cargraphic cats back on my 04 CS and it sounds the business. I've also had Cargraphic gear on other cars and the build quality is great. Some scratch built stuff gives good gains if they do headers well but muffler alone is negligible in terms of gain but may flow better to allow the engine to breath out more easily at the top.
Now, if you want to dip into the kids inheritance look at Akropovic.
Simply THE BEST I have ever seen. Full titanium. Ran a cats back switchable system on my 991 Carrera S and it was audio porn. I still have the system as I removed it when I sold the car - maybe one day I'll get another to stick it on. That did give a gain as we dyno'd. About 12 hp so you wouldn't really notice but the sound made a Cup Car look like a pimply school boy. And it spat blue flame and crackled like an emphysemic witch on the over run.
I need to grow up ...
Cargraphic seems to be getting a good wrap!!
Loved up Akropovic on the web and they don't list an exhaust for the Mk1 GT#, so i emailed them.
Do you know if they do and if so who does it in victoria, i know weltmeister does cargraphic, anyone out there know about Akropovic??
it is out there in cost I agree.
No one here could do what Akrpovic do.
I think Spencer Harrison can get Akropovic. I bought mine thought Andy McIrea in Queensland. Not sure on the Mk1 but Andy would know.
It is definitely a shame that there is no one local that could do this, the only one i know that did anything was starr performance and unfortunately the are no longer around.
From what i hear they did an amazing job aswell.
Because the Mk1 wasn't sold everywhere it becomes an issue when looking for parts, especially aftermarket and performance parts, most manufacturers are located in Europe.
That sounds fantastic!!!!
Made some enquiries and apparently there are differences in the Mk1 & Mk2 exhaust.
Of the few enquiries i have made the companies have wanted to know specific year and even Kw output to make sure they quote the correct exhaust and ECU tune if needed.
