Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Problem is clearly from pushing lid down in the center.
Leading evidence: 'clearly' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'clearly' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust two rubber hood stops' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Since it was the original factory hood with all the stickers, I decided to not replace it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anyone know how to fix front bumper cover droop? Loosened all the screws and tried unsuccessfully to get the hood corners to align perfectly with the bumper. I messed with the hood lock lowering the hood, but the two areas circled on the bumper cover would not budge. Tried adjusting the two rubber hood stops. The bumper is clearly sagging 5-7 mm on each side.
There doesnt seem to be any adjustments available.
Thoughts?
take a look at the hood at the top of the headlights, are they even across? if not I suggest after all these years of pushing on the center of the hood, I would block a 2x4 at the center of the hood and put a little pressure on each side of the hood until even, then readjust hood.
^^^^ Def try this. If the headlights are aligned properly with the hood longitudinal line at the corners, as they appear to be, your hood center is deformed from pushing down to engage to catch. A body shop could probably fix this in 10 minutes. Theyll reform the proper curve.
Any idea if any of the previous owners bumped the front end? Even minor accidents can lead to a misaligned or slightly warped hood. That happened on my last 996. Someone had a minor front end collision and slightly warped the hood. Even though the body shop repaired the bumper and corner of the hood, they couldn't get the hood to sit perfectly flush. Just had to live with it or get another hood. Since it was the original factory hood with all the stickers, I decided to not replace it.
Problem is clearly from pushing lid down in the center. Do the 2x4 or 2x6 suggestion, wrap the wood in a towel. Avoid latch protrusions. You want flat metal to metal and symmetry side to side. You may need to slam petty hard, but be patient.
After that ALWAYS close lid by pushing down on corners.
