Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I spent a lot of time getting it right - it can be adjusted with the column assembled.

Suggestion
Put the front of the car up on stands to adjust so you can swing the wheel left to right to left repeatedly to get it right, which you will need to do.

Ballpark price seems to be around $530 for the cluster so hoping to do the instilation myself or unless someone has a DIY repair solution.

Has anyone encounted a broken indicator stalk on their 996 and have they had a go at replacing the cluster themselves?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone encounted a broken indicator stalk on their 996 and have they had a go at replacing the cluster themselves?
Mine broke yesterday and after a little research on the webb it seems to be fairly comon with this model.
Ballpark price seems to be around $530 for the cluster so hoping to do the instilation myself or unless someone has a DIY repair solution.
If its the same as a boxsters i know there's a few being wrecked normally up in Thomastown, they normally have adds on gumtree with the cars being parted out and for a bit less money.
Cheers Mike,
Not sure on this one as to going the used cluster. Phoned Aporscheapart today and they said little chance of a used unit due to this being a comon problem but confident enough to tackle the instillation myself. Poor design having to replace the whole lot though but I guess thats the nature of the beast!
Thanks for your info though, will continue researching and see where I end up.
That mob on eBay on the Gold Coast -
Pacificporsche911
- send them a message to see what they might have.. I've bought a couple of things from them and have found the communication and price to be very good, with quick delivery.
Two things that I requested that weren't on eVil, they had anyway and sent them out pronto.
When I bought my 996 the blinkers didn't self cancel for right turn. In my
naivety I bought a new 4 stalk switch and fitted it, not too big a job if the youtube movie is followed.
BUT I discovered the switch is
extremely
sensitive to positioning up or down the shaft. The spec is quoted in tenths of a millimeter. The symptom for incorrect adjustment is failure to self cancel... I spent a lot of time getting it right - it can be adjusted with the column assembled.
Put the front of the car up on stands to adjust so you can swing the wheel left to right to left repeatedly to get it right, which you will need to do.
I have an almost new 3 stalk switch assembly which I am sure is good, we can do a deal on the price and you can pay me when you make it work (because I'm not CERTAIN it works).
Cheers

Thanks for that heads up Tony sounds like an important step in the fitting process. My car has the onboard computer so I need to fit the four stalk cluster also my indicator wont stay on when turning right and doesnt self cancel when turning left which seemed to be the norm when reading other forums.
Thanks for your offer though on the 3 stalk.
Cheers
Rod.
