Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i am considering purchasing a 996 Carrera 4 that has had regular services and oil changes but most of them at a mechanic which does not appear have any particular Porsche experience.  Is this an issue? The car has about 75,000kms on the clock and I will get a PPI done by a Porsche specialist before any purchase. Thanks in advance

POST 2Original post

An issue?  If they knew what they were doing and the services were regular, no issue at all.  There is not much specialist knowledge needed so wouldn't over think it. I'd let the outcome of the PPI guide you.

POST 3Original post

You'd want to see that the applicable service regime was being followed.  Therefore the minor, yearly, minor, major (minor and yearly are interchangeable-ish) regime was clearly indicated in the service book.  If it's just oil changes it means that the belt, plugs and filters might still be original !  Di sclaimer: that regime is the one that is applicable for 996.2 up until late 2003.

POST 4Original post

It should have oil and filter every year, brake fluid every other year and plugs and belts every four years (to put it simply).

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone for your help.  Most appreciated
