Hi all,
I hope at least one of you have had a similar experience and can possibly help!
I have a 2006 911
Carrera
S (manual tranny, supercharged by TPC Racing).
It runs really strong and hard (440 rwhp, 350 ft-lb at 4000 rpm), but it's always been a little "punchy" / "boggy" / "hesitant" right off idle up to about 1750 rpm. When starting from a stop I usually have to rev it up to about 2000 rpm before engaging the clutch, otherwise the car bogs and jerks some until the rpms get above 1750 or so.
***
But just last night I was pulling into the driveway and it began run rough, like it was trying to die on me. It would "diesel" on me a bit. Hitting the gas pedal some would make the rpms DROP about 200 or so before climbing up to where they should be. And the
exhaust
wreaked of hot gas, smelling almost like gun powder. No CEL though.
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this or what I could check?
Thanks for any help, I appreciate it!
Cliff
You may want to begin by consulting with the installer of the TPC unit to see if that may have any bearing on your problem. It could be related to the fuel supply by what you describe but I don't know enough about the TPC unit to say whether the problem is w/ OEM parts or related to the TPC installation a/o parts.
sounds like a tuning issue,
Thanks, Dave and Late Apex.
After shutting the car off and waiting a day, I restarted it and it's no longer idling rough. The culprit will probably rear its ugly head again some day. I've cleaned the MAF several times in the past 6 months, but I'm wondering if it could be the problem, or if the TPS could be.
I've ordered the Durametric Tool so I can do some logging before I take it to the dealership or discuss it with TPC Racing again.
I've sent the car to TPC Racing for troubleshooting but they found nothing and said the car was running good on the base file and didn't need any tuning, but its definitely seems too rich at low RPMs and the intermittently weird low-rpm bogging/jerking didn't seem bother them too much.
I'm looking for a tuning shop in the DFW area now...they're my only hope I think.
Thanks again,
Cliff
Cliff,
From what I understood you may be having and electrical problem not tuning, the delay is related to the engine and not the tune, if the car is running rough you could have
spark plugs
that do not seem strong enough to match the tune, or you could have a faulty injector.
You're right. For some reason, there was a 987 Mass Air Sensor in my 997.
