I know its an old thread but after doing some searching I can't quite find the answer and don't want to have the wheel off the car longer than necessary but does anyone know what the part number is for the connector from the buttons to the harness as I've a wheel on the way with paddles fitted (I know my the limits on dremel skills) but rather than rip apart loom on the current wheel I'd like to fit the right connector.

I'm down in Birmingham and Zuffenhaus fitted the wheel really quickly, I can't recommend them enough.

Anyway I like it and would recommend having a conversion done.

I'm really pleased with mine, I don't think it changes any faster but it does feel great.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

I said that to use the buttons on the front,"who the hell designed the three spoke wheel for the tip" who would drive with hands at the twenty to four position?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
I thought I'd share my experience of having a tiptronic paddle shift conversion.
The work has been done by Edition9 in Bolton to a very high standard.
I dealt with a chap called Darren who was very helpful and did the conversion within a week.
The gear change feels better as the paddles make everything much more user friendly.
Anyway I like it and would recommend having a conversion done.
Regards,
Barnz
I’ve been thinking of having a similar modification on my 987 Boxster S, Barnz. Are you willing to give me an idea of the cost? Did you have to supply Edition9 with a steering wheel from a manual car? I was also thinking of having a thicker steering wheel done by Royal Steering Wheels so the conversion would need to be done first. Are the paddles the usual Mercedes parts?
Thank you in anticipation.
Roger
Hi Roger,
I supplied the 3 spoke steering wheel and had the conversion done for £399 including delivery as I couldn't travel up to Bolton.
I was hoping to have the work done to my four spoke wheel but it wasn't possible, I'll hang on to the existing wheel for the time being.
Darren was very helpful and can probably give you a good idea as to whether he can do the work on your wheel.
The paddles I think are the Mercedes type.
I'm down in Birmingham and Zuffenhaus fitted the wheel really quickly, I can't recommend them enough.
I'm really pleased with mine, I don't think it changes any faster but it does feel great.
Regards,
Barney.
Thanks for the info Barney, much appreciated. I’m only a 1 hour drive from Bolton. I will speak with Darren and tell him you recommended him.
Regards
Roger
I did mine myself very straight forward. I bought a boxster three spoke cut the amg paddles in. Then covered in a thicker alcantara its a great modification and a total transformation in driving.
It's the must do conversion makes the car feel alive you won't regret it. I did mine myself , easy to do. Bought second hand manual wheel, had it recovered by Royal wheels with perforated leather and thicker grip. Bought Mercedes switches and spent an afternoon fitting them. Not hard just take your time in measuring and cutting the boss. Would post picture but such a pita now
Get it done ASAP
Looks good dude, make it much more fun to drive, I did mine myself on my 987 BoxsterS, bought a Mercedes steering wheel for £55 to get the paddles off it!!!
After driving at the PEC this weekend, I definitely need to do this as the trip buttons kept getting in the way
Can anyone share the model / type of AMG paddles to use and any photographs of what needs to be done?
I seem to remember there being a post somewhere on how to do it but can't find it for the life of me!
Cheers :+1:
Because I deleted it because of too many companies that nose around forums trying to fleece Porsche owners.
When I first posted the thought of doing it and why it was blasphemy.
I said that to use the buttons on the front,"who the hell designed the three spoke wheel for the tip" who would drive with hands at the twenty to four position? "ludicrous". ( I still stand behind the statement, great wheel but not for a tip)
Anyway that's why I did it, I wanted a sensible ten too two driving position on the wheel.
Didn't buy my paddles either, I made them ;-)
Not that there's anything wrong with buying some and fitting.
If anyone can advise that would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Trev
