Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Yesterday, I was just leaving my house and received a Reduced Power warning and a little while later a CEL. I checked the oil level it was 2 quarts low added oil still receiving messages. The car only has 650 miles. Any ideas out there? I will be visiting the dealer in the morning. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas!

POST 5Original post

Yes but why? Is PSM switched on or off? Also if the front wheels drift on a curve and the rear swings out the engine power can be reduced. Does the warning stay on or did it go off after showing?

POST 6Original post

Make sure the gas cap is tight. It's an 09 right? There have been reports of fuel pump failure on the 09s that can result in limp mode. Definitely a dealer issue if it persists.

POST 8Original post

Did you install an aftermarket oil based air filter? If so you might check that the Mass Air Filter has no damage from over oiling. Just guessing here.

POST 9Original post

IMO, if it has used 2 quarts of oil in 650 miles, something is not right. Take it straight to the dealer and don't take it back until you have a complete explanation of the oil usage. I have never heard of a car using 2 quarts in 650 miles. I am assuming that you have followed the break-in procedure.

POST 10Original post

I am following the break-in I have gotten on the car a coupe of time but nothing super crazy... from reading the ******** site it seems the 997.2 eat oil during break-in. I agree 2 quarts seems high! I'm taking it in first thing tomorrow... I'll let you know what happens! Thanks for the support My CS never has eaten oil like this...

POST 11Original post

Very curious indeed. Somehow I neglected to notice this was a 997. Good luck at the dealer.

POST 12Original post

Just bailed out my CS needed a new fuel pump and some intake valve!

POST 13Original post

You have a dealer that is open on Sundays? I thought AZ just didn't observe DST not workdays....

POST 14Original post

The oil consumption may not be out of line for the new DFI engines. There seems to be a lot of variation. I've driven 750mi and the electronic level is still full.

POST 15Original post

The error was a right bank problem. My tech thinks its a bad actuator we will see. Other note when I received the reduced engine power warning the car actually quit firing the damaged cylinder. I didn't know it could do that.

POST 16Original post

Thanks! Keep us posted, your problem is not one that I've come across on other threads/sites. Is this actuator related to the DFI?

POST 18Original post

It was the actuator... Up and running again! There were 2 recalls on my car as well... An Exhaust gasket kit and something with the sidemarker lights... not sure what!

POST 19Original post

Thanks for the update. Glad you're up and running.

POST 20Original post

We were not much help in guessing but it is nice to find out your dealer was on the ball. Thanks for telling us.
