I have a 2008 C4 Cab. I was driving it in some fairly hard rain and I noticed that it started to leak right where the leading edge of the top meets the A-Pillar on the drivers side. It dripped pretty bad for a few minutes and then stopped. I have checked the seals and everything looks pretty good. I know that in the manual it states that convertible tops are not 100% water tight, but I would think at this location things would be sealed up pretty well.
Anyone else having this issue?
I've never driven in very hard rain, but in normal rain I never experienced anything like that!
Yeah I usually don't drive in hard rain either, but when I'm out and it comes not much I can do. I'm going to take it to the dealer and see what they say.
Thanks.
Something isn't right, definitely shouldn't leak. My 99 Boxster didn't leak in heavy Florida torrents and neither has the wife's 08 Boxster S. I haven't had my Cab long enough, but if it leaked as you described I'd take it to the dealer pronto. FWIW my DD is an 83 MB SL and it doesn't leak! Let us know what the dealer comes up with.
Yeah I know something isn't right. Regardless of the fact that the manual states that no convertible is 100% water tight you would think that where I'm having the issue it would be well sealed. I have an appointment tomorrow and I will report back what they find.
Thanks.
Hope it can be sorted out easily!
I took the car in this morning to see about getting the leak fixed. I will report back what they find.
Probably something just needs adjusting. They should get it sorted PDQ.
That's exactly what it was. They adjusted some of the seals on the A-Pillar and the top itself and ran a pressure washer on the area when they washed it. Not even a hint of a leak. Problem solved!
Glad you got it straightened out! That's not the kind of problem anyone should have to live with in 2009. After all we're not driving 1950's era English roadsters are we?
No, I'm not driving a 1950's style roadster, but I sure would like one. I'm thinking a 1955 550 Spyder would be a nice addition to the stable.
