Just bought a 99 blk on blk c4 6 speed with 75k miles. Very nice inside and out. Day after I buy it I hear engine noise. My friend and I have started a serious project. Long story short. Yesterday we removed everything from the car and today tore apart motor and found number 6 rod bearing spun. Anyone know where I can find oversized bearings? I'm going to machine the crank and replace the rod but will need an oversized bearing. Any help would be appreciated.

At this point, oversized bearings don't exist. Go with a good used crank or use someone like CCR in San Mateo, CA to weld and regrind the crank to standard specification. You will need a good used rod as well and take extra care to thoroughly clean the engine. You should replace the oil cooler and the chain rails may have metal impregnated in them.

Normally it's important to know why and inspect it. Used motors can be an option if the cost of a rebuild exceeds your available funds. I hate speculating, best to find a firm you are most comfortable with whom you trust and have work carried out. Good luck.

The overhaul is going well so far. Got the motormeister rebuild parts including crank. There are no oversized bearings for sale. Next step is the strange part where you install the 3 pistons through the wristpin access port. There is a special tool or two to do that which is what im trying to source now.

Spyder.. EBS_Don already said that oversized bearings don't exist. Since the animals are already out of the barn, do a seach about MotorMeister.. The results might not be pleasing. Can't speak about specialized tools, but since it IS a porsche designed motor, I wouldn't be suprised if special tools are needed.
