Fires then stalls?/ You probably have a MASSIVE vacuum leak......Just a quick test, crank on the engine for a few seconds then accellerate to the floor till it revs, then to about 1/3rd throttle,,,If the engines runs ( but poorly) in this mannor, you just have a MASSIVE air leak and are not getting enough fuel for the massive ( uncontrolled) air....

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, all. I've had my '02 cab for 8 years now and she has been really reliable until now. I replaced the oil tube over the winter, after spilling a quart or two of DT-40 before realizing the tube was shot. Had no problem putting everything back as last year the AOS went, so I am becoming expert at alternator removal. I did notice there is only one wire running to the plug at the back, which seems strange. Anyway, tried to wake her up and she will crank, fire and promptly stall, never really catching. Tried jumping fuel pump relay, can hear it running, still no start. Tach does move, so probably not crank angle sensor? I can smell fuel at exhaust, so I don't think it's fuel related, It does kick, so it is getting some spark, at least initially. I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

I had this crank/no-run problem after removing the rubber bellows on the intake, to replace the alternator.
