was due to get my car back today after being T boned before Christmas however the repairer now has a problem with an air bag warning light any idea

It will have to be taken to a workshop that has the Porsche PIWIS software so they can test for faults & clear them. After any repair to the airbag system or disconnecting any airbag you will need to clear the fault in the system that is generated, if the light stays on or fault persists further repair will be needed. The PIWIS will tell the mechanics whats not working correctly.
